School yearbook is including pronouns!

I have just received the form to pay for dc's yearbook (end of secondary school). It states that pronouns used will be those that are in the school's records. Whilst I can see that the school is in a bit of a difficult place here I am concerned that teenagers who are potentially going through a phase (that is very fashionable now - it seems about 75% of the children use 'pronouns' that don't match their sex in my dc's school) this will be forever captured in their yearbook. I don't know if they are intending to state pronouns next to each name or if they are talking about where they use he/she/they/ze in the individual write ups. Fellow GC MNers - do any of you think I should be concerned/raise this with the school? If so, any steer on this would be great (equally it may be that this is not one to challenge - I have no doubt their heart sinks whenever they get an email from me Grin).

Assuming they mean they will refer to each kid using the pronouns they have on record rather than that they are going list pronouns under the individual's name I don't think this is a big deal. What else are they supposed to do, use "they" for everyone? i

In terms of the future of the children involved I don't think it will have any significant impact. If the 75% isn't hyperbole, then I wouldn't be concerned at all. In years to come it won't matter if they didn't really mean it/did mean it/have changed back/have stuck with it etc. it will look like it was a craze the same as if they all sat for the photo with one eye closed but anyone going around with one eye still closed was obviously not just part of the craze.

If the 75% is hyperbole and it's more like 5 or 10 in the year then it will probably be a bit unfortunate for some of them, but not a disaster they can't wave away with a "I was having a laugh"/"I was unsure back then"/"School admin were bloody useless, had me signed up for A levels when I was in year 8 too!".

Ffs.
But... if the yearbook potentially outs a school for having facilitated or encouraged the social transitioning of pupils whole keeping it secret from the parents, then good!
