Is (or has) anyone reading this?
It is funny if somewhat disturbing. An obvious blueprint for the trans moment but is it openly so?
I haven't seen anything written about it

I've just found the revised in lesbian and gay news

Yes, Simon Edge is a prominent GC writer and gay man. He's said that it's an analogy for Stonewall and the TWAW movement.

I think he did an interview on a old The Mess We're In on Glinners YouTube channel if you look through.

GoodieMoomin · 10/01/2022 18:19

Yes, it's a really fun read. I highly recommend it!

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 10/01/2022 18:21

I'll watch that, thanks
I picked it up innocently so was blown away by how accurate it is. Once I started recognising prominent figures I realised it couldn't be an accident Grin

It is a fun read on how with enough money and leverage and comms advice you make anyone believe anything (or say they do). And I learnt some stuff about maps on the way. If I dared to review on A under my real name I would have given it 4/5 stars as a book (and 10/10 for shining a political light!). Bit like Animal Farm.

Panicmode1 · 10/01/2022 18:24

Yes I read it last year and recommended it on Twitter - I thought it was very funny in parts and a very clever analogy.

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 10/01/2022 18:34

Yes! I loved it op. So fascinating to see how lobbying works in the charity sector. Well or at least how one charity lobbies at least.

TofuDelights · 10/01/2022 18:43

Yes, asked for it for Christmas and enjoyed it. It's not exactly the most subtle of reads, but was pretty funny. I particularly enjoyed the last pages!!

Rhannion · 10/01/2022 18:50

It’s excellent and I voted for it on Waterstones book of the year, along with Trans by Helen Joyce

MaMaLa321 · 10/01/2022 18:56

I'll have to differ. I found it so dull that I gave up and put it in Oxfam.

RoyalCorgi · 10/01/2022 19:06

I loved it. Really clever analogy with the trans debate, with the added benefit of teaching you about the orange peel map.

I’m only about 3 chapters in but this is my experience so far.
Sexnotgender · 10/01/2022 20:39

I’m halfway through it. Very interesting.

daringdoris · 10/01/2022 21:44

I bought it for my partner and will read it when he's finished it!

Same here. I thought it sounded great from what I'd read about it, but I found it dull and not nearly as funny or clever as it thought it was!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/01/2022 22:20

I loved it and found it very enlightening in terms of how money might be used to influence mass opinion.

Babdoc · 10/01/2022 22:39

I loved Julie Bindel’s review on the back cover: “I laughed so much, I nearly fell in my cauldron”.
But tbh, that was funnier than the actual book, which belaboured its single point rather tediously for too long.
I think a better writer could have achieved a much more successful satire, with more laughs en route.
