7 women making a difference for human rights in Brazil. Bet you can guess

.. but I don't think I've seen a choice this bad before! WHat the hell do Marie Claire Brazil think they are doing?

I am guessing it is indicative of just how bad, all pervasive the sex trade is in Brazil, but the details are utterly beyond me!

That was about 1000% worse than I though it could possibly be. What are they thinking?? Have their brains fallen out of their heads?

Lovelyricepudding · 05/01/2022 16:41

It certainly sounds like he is 'making a difference for human rights' but not in a good way...

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 05/01/2022 16:44

Yes. Amongst all the 'usual' sexual violence, pimping etc there was this

In 2019, Siqueira was expelled from the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL) of Brazil in which he had been campaigning as a politician. The Party removed him after public outrage surrounding his "takeover" of a non-profit art charity house of cultural significance, illegally converting it into boarding and brothel for trans-identified male prostitutes.

And then this

a lauding documentary was made on him by trans activists in 2019 titled Indianara, which won 5 awards and was nominated for a total of 14. While the film was shown in Cannes, Siqueira was unable to attend due to his ban from France on his past criminal convictions for pimping.

Beggers belief!

Man sells women for sex using coercive control and violence. Man is then hailed a heroic woman for subjecting and promoting his coercive control and violence over vulnerable women.

This is apparently equality of the sexes Hmm

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 05/01/2022 16:55

Apparently so!

Yay Envy

I didn't see any of that coming.

Bloody. Hell.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 05/01/2022 17:05

It's just, stunning, in the literal sense rather than the brave sense.

Man sells women for sex using coercive control and violence.

After a bit of further reading it seems his adult victims are usually vulnerable males.

The sex of the child victim who testified against him was not disclosed.

Presumably Marie Claire bought his response that the alleged victim of child abuse, the adult victims of forced prostitution (proven, not alleged), the ethics committee, the Spanish courts, his socialist party colleagues and the managers of the charity he destroyed are all transphobic.

On 'her' Facebook page Indianara has a beard.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 05/01/2022 17:29

I do not see how trafficking transwomen constitutes fighting for women's rights. Or even trans rights. What you normally see in articles like this is a trans rights activist being described as a women's rights campaigner despite doing nothing for women.

But this is far, far worse than even that.

ArabellaScott · 05/01/2022 17:32

Horrific. Unbelievably horrific.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 05/01/2022 17:39

Yes, the fact that he is a man trafficking boys, allegedly or otherwise, only makes this an even more odd choice.

Nowhere does it say anything about anything he actually has done for women, It's all for 'whores and transwomen'. So I am assuming that this is where "Sex work is work" and "transwomen are women" ends up!

What the fuck were they thinking?

Waftypants · 05/01/2022 20:14

That is a new low in this whole catastrophe for women and girls. Utterly horrific.

TurquoiseBaubles · 05/01/2022 22:04

It probably came from the belief that all publications seem to have these days of "every list of women must include one transwoman" - they will have looked around and taken the first name they were given, probably got a link to the "lauding documentary" and just gone "that'll do".

ffs
