We have Genetic conditions that run in males our family, so I had PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis) with IVF. I knew the sex was female prior to embryo transfer.

She’s now a feisty 10 yr old girl, and is the reason we wake up every morning.

Prior to having her, we had a son who died just before his 7th birthday. I wouldn’t wish this heartbreak on anyone, and am eternally grateful for the scientists and doctors who understand there are 2 sexes.

I am so sorry for this dreadfully sad loss of your lovely little boy due to this genetic condition.

Thanks you, everyone, for your kind words to a stranger on MN. It’s been 11 years since we lost our son, but it could be yesterday. Losing a little boy after almost 7 years of leaving no stone unturned to try and find life saving treatment, is beyond devastating.

Our daughter is a gift, a strong and healthy 10 yr old, and we consider ourselves beyond fortunate that science was able to help us have her, for the 2nd part of our parenting journey. This required medical professionals to understand the very basics, simply that there are only 2 sexes.

It’s maddening to see this sex/gender debate going on, trying to gaslight us into buying in to their ideology.

Thanks again for acknowledging our little boy, it meant more than words can say.
