I will think about the women who were murdered rather than any person who will never understand what it is like to be a woman.

It is horrifying that a man believes his anger at women is a reason to murder them.

Flowers Thanks for saying their names
ErrolTheDragon · 07/12/2021 22:34

Thank you OP.
I didn't hear about it at the time either - not till a few years ago when my DD was embarking on studying engineering. It doesn't bear thinking about - but we have to do so.

WomenR · 07/12/2021 22:40

Thank you for reminding us all @Leafstamp. Those poor young women - massacred in the prime of life for being successful and women. There are some posts on the Ovarit website that give an excellent history of what happened. I’m ashamed to say I didn’t know about a lot of it before. We need to know, as do our daughters.

Flowers RIP

I didn't hear about this at the time. Thank you, OP.

ColinRobinsonsFart · 07/12/2021 22:54

I remember this as I was at uni and the same age as most of these women
I think of the life I have had since - and they were cheated of.

Delphinium20 · 07/12/2021 23:13

ThanksI was in high school when this happened and remembered the fear of women being singled out.

flygirl1983 · 07/12/2021 23:32

I don't remember it because I was a small child, but it should be remembered. Thanks

flygirl1983 · 07/12/2021 23:35

It was repeated in the US in 2006. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/WestNickellMinesSchoollshooting

Thanks for sharing, Leaf. This one's
a close one as we live in Montréal. Not many people outside of Canada have heard of it.

RIP Flowers

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 08/12/2021 00:35

I have never heard of this somehow.
It is very sobering.
Thank you for sharing.

SpringCrocus · 08/12/2021 01:51

I graduated as an Engineering student in 1989. I remember this. RIP my fellowship.

I’d never heard of this until I joined MN although I too am old enough.

Thank you for listing their names. It’s a good tribute.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/12/2021 06:59

I vaguely remember this, but at the time I hadn't realised it was only women who were killed.

RIP Flowers

I remember it distinctly. I posted a longer piece on the thread that was deleted. There I called it gynephobia and gynecide, which it was. Women murdered by a man in an act of hate because they were women and he hated 'feminists'.
