In the Facebook live recording, Tim Oliver refers to the recruitment of an EDI Consultant as mitigation for leaving stonewall. I saw that advertised at £40K. So far more expensive than membership to Stonewall.
I live near Surrey and they are cutting services left, right and centre, which impacts on vulnerable people, disproportionately women.
Whilst I am pleased they are dropping stonewall, I suspect it is more to do with playing politics then considering the needs of women. Good news though.
This sounds fine to me.
One of the real problems with using Stonewall to deliver D&I is that though they represented some with protected characteristics, they lack expertise, and presumably interest, in others.
A proper D&I manager will be wanting to promote equality for women, racial minorities, those with disabilities and so on. And by taking note of the needs of groups (like single sex toilets for, say, religious minorities) and individuals, should be able to deliver greater utilisation of staff and better productivity for the organisation.
