I have so much respect for Allison Bailey not just for this important case, but for putting her head above the parapet in helping to found LGB and not giving up on important matters of law and justice, when I have no doubt that her life would be simpler if she had.

I cannot imagine what a stressful and unpleasant time this has been, and I am sure that it will continue up until the hearing in June 2022. If Allison is reading this, I hope she knows how grateful I am to her for shedding light on this. So many of us in law, healthcare and education are too afraid to speak up for people that are harmed by some of Stonewall’s practices, but I hope that this case forms part of a turning tide.

Apologies if cross-posting, I couldn’t find anything recent on FWR about it at the time of posting.

Thanks for posting OP. I feel the same about Allison - she's remarkable.

If as she suspects Stonewall tried to get her sacked from her chambers they should be absolutely destroyed.

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2021 20:26

Fantastic news. Well done, Allison.

eggbarm · 29/11/2021 20:27

Yes, thanks for sharing OP. this sounds like very good news. 2022 could turn out to be a very interesting year...

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/11/2021 20:32

Wishing her good luck with this. From what I've read this is such a strong case and hopefully will expose the protection racket nature of so many of these "Diversity" programmes.

Mumsnut · 29/11/2021 21:21

I have so much respect for her

PronounssheRa · 29/11/2021 21:28

Allison is incredible.

However, following Ms Bailey’s application to the tribunal “to add to her existing claim [against Stonewall and Garden Court Chambers] a claim of direct discrimination because of philosophical belief” - as opposed to “indirect discrimination” - it was granted by a judge.

Mayas case has changed the landscape, Allison is now claiming direct discrimination.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/11/2021 21:32

Amazing news.

The link is in the OP - none of the archive. sites work for me but I found it by entering the Telegraph URL at web.archive.org

Well done to the legal feminists and legal team who are responsible for the Forstater ruling that has facilitated this for Allison B.

Clymene · 29/11/2021 22:49

That is fantastic.

Well done Allison. You are absolutely bloody awesome Smile

MonsignorMirth · 29/11/2021 22:57

I did follow this at the time, but could someone knowledgeable sum up what happened this year and what has now changed? The article does mention that it's been changed from indirect discrimination to direct discrimination, but I remember there were things like the other party not making documents available in time or they were too redacted etc?

Motorcyclemptiness · 29/11/2021 23:09

Well done, Allison.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 29/11/2021 23:22

I wonder if this means that Garden Court will consider a settlement as to a lay person this reads like quite a steer that direct discrimination has been accepted as an amendment.

June 2022! This has been going for months and months, more than a year? Already.

Good luck Allyson and kudos for fighting.

Having this going on must mess with work/ earnings esp for barrister the time period is just incredible.

June 2022! This has been going for months and months, more than a year? Already.

Allison has replied to someone on Twitter that the date in the article is wrong, it's happening in April 22.

It got pushed into next year because the trial length was extended. It was supposed to be 8 days, now it's going to be 20, and The Tribunal and lawyers couldn't accommodate it any earlier, unfortunately.

CheeseMmmm · 30/11/2021 00:41

Still though what a hiatus on her life and sure with consequences.

LonginesPrime · 30/11/2021 01:55

Great news - thank you for standing up to them, Allison!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 30/11/2021 05:59

CruellaDeVilla · 30/11/2021 06:02
