Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What do you think the world will be like in 10 years time?

Me and DH often discuss the state of the world. We are huge fans of JK Rowling and think that the way she has been treated is disgusting.

We both believe that sex matters in sport, medicine, life in general. We both want safe spaces for women. We both get absolute rage when we hear “people who menstruate” and “pregnant people”.

And we both fear for what our kids are learning about and being exposed to, especially at a young age.

We are both shocked at what is spent on trans issues by the NHS each year.

Quite honestly I feel like we are living in the Truman show and people are watching our reaction to something that just doesn’t make sense.

What do people really think will happen in the future? Will this all blow over? Will people come to their senses? Or will it just get worse and worse?

Specific state of the world wrt sex/gender issues, not climate change, Trumpian politics etc...

I believe the west is presently divided between those who have been indoctrinated into gender ideology and those who have not.

As it stands, there is a generation (us oldies) who have not been indoctrinated themselves, but have allowed the ideology to take hold because "be kind" without thinking.

Those in this generation who have become more aware of the harms of the ideology are leading a hard backlash against it, they are becoming more vocal, we're already seeing this (better late than never) at the BBC and in Westminster.

A whole swathe of the younger generation have been indoctrinated into extreme gender ideology "there are more than 100 genders, sex is irrelevant or too complex to understand, genderqueer this non binary that, terfs are out to destroy trans people, lesbians have a penis, kill the enemy" etc through social media and universities. But not all of them buy into it. Those who don't buy into it stay quiet for peace and quiets sake.

Coming through is another new generation, who have been exposed to both sides of the argument thanks to the more vocal older generation who previously kept quiet but now have more of a voice.

So in the future I think we'll see
Older generation: still sensible
Middle generation: mad woke
Younger generation: sensible and most informed on both sides of the sex/gender argument.

Awful. I think we're going to end up in an authoritarian society where a wealthy minority live comfortable lives and the rest of us struggle, much more than we do now.
I'm not looking forwards with any hope. I don't think that what is happening now is a mistake or a misunderstanding, peoples views are becoming incredibly polarised and we are all being driven to join one or other camp on each issue. Divide and conquer.
I've said it before, I've never seen such a divisive and destructive government as this, and I don't think we're going to be able to go back to the way things were before.

I'm old enough to remember similar attempts by a group of toxic activists to hijack the zeitgeist. They attached to the coat tails of the gay rights/women's lib/free love hippy movement of the 60s and 70s.
They made some progress, but there was an inevitable backlash and they were forced to retreat.
Who were they? PIE - the paedophile information exchange.
No doubt at the time, people despaired at the prospect of a dystopian future, with children's rights thrown under the bus, etc.
Just as we currently see women's rights being trampled. But the silent, moral majority eventually rise up and restore sanity and the status quo.
I remain hopeful for the future, and confident that common sense will prevail this time too.

I'm hopeful every time I see the amazing (unpaid) work being put in by women and men from all walks of life, fighting against bad law, medicine, sports administration, education and so on, and making progress that would have seemed impossible even 6 months ago. The coverage across different media outlets is making a difference to the average person's understanding of what's at stake

And then I see my Facebook friends in a group about our shared hobby (that's dominated by blokes) They're all kind, highly-educated women, contorting themselves into knots just to avoid using the word 'woman' in its common meaning. 'Non-man' can just get in the bin, for example. End result is that we are no further along in encouraging more women to join in because we can't bloody name them! I despair, and am keeping out of it as they go round and round in circles not getting anywhere

So a bit of curate's egg really! I'd love to be putting my energy towards other issues affecting women and wider society, but queer theory is so poisonous and has been adopted like a state religion by so many
