For those of you who were wondering about this charity, this was in reply to my cancelling my donation for their 'inclusive' stance.

ActionAid UK is a trans-inclusive organisation and employer. We aim to ensure that non-binary and trans colleagues feel represented. We are serious about our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion which is at the core of our culture and commitment to universal human rights. When we talk about women we include trans women and when we talk about men we include trans men.

We recognise the reality of physical bodies. We also recognise that most – yet not all – bodies fall broadly into the categories of what we often term ‘typically male’ and ‘typically female’. Sex, though, isn’t a single factor and is comprised of multiple factors including genitalia, internal reproductive organs and chromosomes. These don’t necessarily all match up in ways that we assume, or fall into ‘typical’ ranges.

We believe in everyone’s fundamental right to self-determine their own identity. Enabling bodily autonomy for all is a key part of our work, particularly for those individuals (often women and girls) whose bodies are most likely to be the subject of control. We recognise that trans women, trans men and those who identify as non-binary often face specific discriminations and increased levels of violence based on either their gender and/or perceived gender, and/or their physical body. If you would like to read more about our commitment to trans inclusion please visit our website here: Our commitment to trans inclusion | ActionAid UK.

Wow (and not in a good way) that 2nd para

and repeating the most oppressed myth Hmm

HermioneWeasley · 16/11/2021 20:25

Oh yes, for a charity that market themselves about women and girls and periods, they’ve gone completely batshit.

I donate to Binti Period now instead

FrancescaContini · 16/11/2021 20:25

What a load of embarrassing, godawful BS.

NotTerfNorCis · 16/11/2021 22:49

That sounds like talking the talk to me. Saying what right-on Westerners want to hear. I doubt there's much gender ideology in their work in places like the Gaza strip and Afghanistan. They'll need a certain hard headed realism out there.

nocoolnamesleft · 16/11/2021 23:03

Oh bloody hell. Was eyeing them up for a Christmas donation.

Namechangeforthis88 · 17/11/2021 07:02

I'm waiting for a response to my own email to them. I imagine they're using this as a template. Difficult, as I sponsor a child. I might have to wait till they age out, and look at Plan International in the meantime.

I'd be amazed if they weren't pushing this stuff on the ground. NGOs push their ideologies, and because they have money, they often hold significant power. I have heard women from the DRC and India talking about how genderism is being pushed there by Westerners. It is one of the most disturbing things about this - many of those countries are very misogynist, very homophobic, Iran already forces transition on gay people. I imagine there will be plenty more of that kind of thing coming.

Grumpyosaurus · 17/11/2021 07:32

I ditched Action Aid some time ago and now give the £££ to a little educational outfit called Mvumi School Trust. Another bonus is that I'm not helping to fund a huge office and overpaid twerps who write the sort of bollocks quoted in the OP.

The sponsorship money goes to the community, if you stop sponsoring a child they assign a new sponsor to that child so that the community isn’t disadvantaged. Stopping means they can’t assign funds to new projects
EishetChayil · 17/11/2021 09:19

Foreign aid to the former third world is a form of modern-day colonialism.

WitchButNotTheFunKind · 17/11/2021 09:20

I sponsored via Action Aid for a long time but it was quite obvious the little pics were done under duress and the updates were from Action aid staff not the child so i started looking into how the sponsor child relationship actually worked and it felt to me like they were forcing children to be involved to ‘earn’ the money paid to the community

Namechangeforthis88 · 19/11/2021 06:52

They just replied to my email, with the exact wording the op had. They did also mention a high volume of contact and asked for my sponsorship number so they could "log" my query. I pondered whether they think people are writing to them claiming to be sponsors when they aren't. Interesting.

tootyfruitypickle · 19/11/2021 07:13

I work for another big charity which is like this. Tbh I think they all have been hoodwinked by the cult. I sat through a training session where I was told not just women have periods .

Perhaps small local charities are the way forward. The big charities are mainly stonewall champions sadly.

PotholeParadies · 19/11/2021 07:19

Here are some alternative charities, if you are looking.

TedImgoingmad · 19/11/2021 09:19

Who is it within organisations that drives this stuff? Is it the marketing/fundraising people bandwagoning popular movements, or is it a well considered fundamental policy shift formed from the experience of the people actually delivering the service at ground level? When I was a lawyer and my firm wanted to jump on the Kids Co madness bandwagon, none of the partners knew why they were doing it - it was the marketing department driving it.

Surely there are also many way of being a sponsor and only acknowledging the mere reality of monetary donation, with a log in number is not supportive to those people who are sponsors in their minds. Tut, tut; failing to be inclusive of all kinds of sponsors.

Maybe Professor Robert Winston could help them out.

Namechangeforthis88 · 19/11/2021 21:25

It's up to them and their employees if they want to be a trans-inclusive, I reckon, but if you don't believe in male/female biology, how do you know who needs to be protected from FGM and child marriage?

sharksarecool · 19/11/2021 23:16

What I don't understand is why they have to declare it all in so much detail. They haven't felt the need to unpack their position on Brexit or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Wht on earth do think they need to spend the best part of a page telling us what they think a woman is?

Enough4me · 19/11/2021 23:23

Large organisations are afraid. They know the emperor is naked, but his penis apparently has to be called a woman's appendage to appease him. They pretend to turn the TRA wrath away from them.

Namechangeforthis88 · 20/11/2021 08:17

Very good point @sharksarecool, they're not setting out the rest of their HR policies, what are they like on maternity leave? When you're Action Aid, you really shouldn't feel the need to virtue signal.

This need for supporters to say so much is part of what alerted me the problem with the trans ideology. It feels both manipulative and like they need to convince themselves.

Also put me in mind of how you can tell someone’s lying and thats when there’s too much unnecessary detail..

Did you put them straight about periods?
tootyfruitypickle · 20/11/2021 15:53

@FrancescaContini sadly not , I need my job

But surely you wouldn’t be sacked for pointing out that they’re wrong?

tootyfruitypickle · 20/11/2021 16:03

Not overtly sacked no . But you weren't in the session. It was quite terrifying with everyone agreeing. I just logged off and went and did something else .
