Trampling flags

Is it just me, or is it a bit weird that TRAs are inviting the public to trample their banner?

Trampling a flag is generally considered highly offensive to those for whom it is an important banner. Why on earth would you want to paint it on the ground and invite people to walk over it?

Narcissists don't care how they get attention.

Rainbow flags on road have been around for fair while.

With covid there were NHS things on road for cars to drive over.

I really can't bring myself to feel anything at all about this op. Meh.

I can’t imagine them doing a Stars and Stripes on in America.

Road markings should not be used for virtue signalling or political statements.

I never saw any NHS road markings, but if they were replacing useful crossings and making them unusable for the visually impaired and confusing people then I would think them equally wrong.
I suppose it's easy to not mind if it doesn't affect you or yours.

My partially sighted colleague almost got run over because of one of these. Typical of diversity only benefiting one group.

KittenKong · 11/11/2021 09:21

My sister is almost blind and found these bloody dangerous. Her depth perception is one of the things that has gone and she kept stumbling over the stupid things.

It is true that this has only got our attention here, and ended up in the "feminism: sex & gender" discussion because of the specifically "LGBTQ" decoration.

This far from being the biggest feminist issue of our time.

But that doesn't mean that it's not a real issue. All the markings, LGBTQ or artistic, are clearly harmful.

And it does serve as a metaphor for the whole way the trans stuff is being handled - the desires of the Beaumont Society for metaphorical "visibility" outweighing the needs of the RNIB for real visibility. Hmm

Isthatthebestyoucando · 11/11/2021 09:34

The thing is, if someone tried to start a thread on any other board saying these crossings are dangerous, it's selfish, shows disrespect to people who are unable to use them, shows where their needs come in the pecking order behind loudly celebrating others, then how many people would say "oh that's the trans crossings, there's a board for that".
The thread would probably get moved, even though it is about road safety and virtue signalling over actually giving a fuck about protected groups who actually find life very difficult.
This issue belongs on the main chat boards, it affects people negatively.

KittenKong · 11/11/2021 09:36

It’s not just trans crossings. It’s a fashion for ‘art’ on the road. All flipping dangerous - but obviously some ‘won’t’ be criticised will they?🙄

It's nothing by to do with feminism, but discussion of anything to do with this ideology is almost invariably lumped into this section.

My point is about the incoherence of an ideology that invites you to trample upon its symbols.
