Brilliant speech, I don't know if it's already on here. Worth a watch
I sent a card to this lady when she was on GB new the other week.

This is such a great speech. Sums it up about what is going on in schools

nauticant · 10/11/2021 11:07

Very good to see this being raised in the (nearly empty) chamber of the House of Commons. For those in authority implementing the gender identity ideology, without being ultra activists, surely they must be realising that if a massive scandal breaks in a few years time the excuse of "how was I to know there was something dodgy in what I was pushing, everyone else was saying it was fine?" will be looking very threadbare.

Incidentally, here are some biographical details suggesting she might be well placed to discuss this matter and highly motivated to do so:

She studied genetics at the University of Cambridge,[5] obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Sheffield Hallam University, and worked as a science teacher in a school in Sheffield.

Obviously I did snigger at this: Member of Parliament for Penistone and Stocksbridge.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/11/2021 11:27

What a brilliant coherent speech that highlights what has happened as a result of allowing these lobby groups to promote their preferred versions of sexual politics at children.
Hopefully Miriam Cates (who has background much needed in parliament) will go far.

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2021 11:30

It took her like about 4 minutes to say what we have been saying

Keep out stonewall mermaids all sorts and another group out of schools

That’s what she said. Teachers to frightened to say no to these groups 🤷‍♀️

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/11/2021 11:34

Yup littlbrowndog
And she name checked diversity role models and several other self interested adult organisations with examples of the self indulgent twaddle they're pushing at children.

motherofthelittlescreamingone · 10/11/2021 11:35

Yes! Thank goodness someone is saying it

Fogormist · 10/11/2021 11:38

Why is there no-one in the House of Commons? What are MPs paid for?

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 10/11/2021 11:54

Wow! Just that really - wow!! What a fantastic 4 minutes. I want to say Brava! but i hate that underlying that is the admission that it is brave and somehow radical to speak the truth.

Datun · 10/11/2021 11:54

Wow, what a brave woman. And yes, that was entirely unequivocal. Good for her.

And yes it's disappointing to see so few MPs there, but I think that's often the case, and perhaps more so during Covid.

One thing's for sure, that speech is going to spread like a bloody bushfire now.

BreadInCaptivity · 10/11/2021 12:09

Great speech.

To the point and pulls no punches,

Let's hope she gets some traction.

aliasundercover · 10/11/2021 12:22

Yet another conservative woman speaking truth.

Ffs, I can't possibly vote Tory, can I?

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 10/11/2021 12:41

Thank you, it's excellent - just a shame there weren't more MPs there to hear it!

Masdintle · 10/11/2021 13:53

I don't really know what Hansard is, but would this speech be transcribed into it? As a permanent record?

andyoldlabour · 10/11/2021 15:09

We have to ask ourselves, what are the chances of a Labour, LibDem or Green MP standing up and speaking like this?

[/quote] Thanks for that her story of becoming an MP is interesting, I've been toying with doing similar think she's inspired me to look further into it.
MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/11/2021 15:41

@Masdintle

Yes - Hansard is the record of what happens in theHouse of Commons. Everything that's happened in the chamber is recorded and published - all part of an open democracy. Such a shame that all the meetings that happened in secret with the anti women lot as they pushed for the removal of women's rights weren't also transcribed.
donquixotedelamancha · 10/11/2021 19:39

Ffs, I can't possibly vote Tory, can I?

If she were my MP that would push me to do it. The commons needs more Scientists, women and people willing to stand for their beliefs, great to see all three.

LonginesPrime · 10/11/2021 19:46

Wow - she's brilliant!

It's so refreshing to see a mother in parliament who's not afraid to speak her mind and to speak up for safeguarding and for children. She has a background in teaching too, which is great.

Thegreenray · 10/11/2021 19:51

I've checked her voting record and it's off-putting. But I'd be tempted to vote for her because of this one issue, given the poor alternatives.

Thanks for the Hansard text link. That’s a good speech naming the organisations aiming this politics at kids and saying she is trying to meet with the minister about it. Excellent.
I’m a Labour voter and I just wish they could be even half as child-focused and safe-guarding focused in this area as that one MP is.

I would vote for her. Spineless Labour MPs pretending there is no problem.
