Hi mumsnetters
I've recently sent a complaint in to nhs England in regards to how they are describing female only conditions (eg cervical cancer) vs males ones (eg prostate cancer). If you look at those two pages you'll probably see what I mean, the prostate one is riddled with unqualified references to men and males, while they won't even describe the cervix as part of the female reproductive system.
The point of the complaint was less to get them to change the language about cervical cancer, more to get some acknowledgment that men and women are being treated differently in this regard. Also that for a health organisation to change the meanings of words like male/female and man/woman piecemeal and by the back door will have implications for patient care as most people aren't aware they are doing it. I'll post the full text that I wrote here if anyone is interested but it is quite long...
Anyway what I'd love is if more people sent their own complaints about this - even if you don't agree with me about gender theory and instead want to complain that the prostate info is transphobic. I think this should be a public debate and not something the nhs just does without informing anyone and the more complaints they receive the better idea we'll have of what their position actually is.
I hope this is ok to post in this forum, it's the only place I dared put it as most platforms don't allow for this kind of discussion. Any responses appreciated x
