Police told to denounce misogynist colleagues

Thoughts on the article...
deputy chief constable Blythe is new in post and and it's a start, but the thinking needs to evolve quickly. 'Snitching' may not necessarily have prevented Sarah Everards death. I hope deputy chief constable Blythe meets Freya

What's really needed
Freya has worked with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the Centre for Women’s Justice to draw attention to how perpetrators of abuse are protected by police forces. The rise in the profile of this problem, and the soon-expected changes to police policy and procedure on this front are a testament to the impact of her work.

Police Super Complaint (by Freya)
Police Officers Allowed To Abuse With Impunity In The ‘Locker-Room’ Culture Of UK Forces, Super-Complaint Reveals. 666 reports of domestic abuse related incidents and offences perpetrated by officers, PCSOs and other staff during a three-year period. www.centreforwomensjustice.org.uk/news/2020/3/9/police-officers-allowed-to-abuse-with-impunity-in-the-locker-room-culture-of-uk-forces-super-complaint-reveals

So many misogynists in the comments of that Times article.

 @Catnuzzle ThanksThanksThanks

Sadly I think it's going to take a long time to make real changes.

We have a good whistle blowing policy/ training and low level concerns policy. It's not about snitching, it's about challenging in the moment.

This is much easier to do imo in a school environment where most staff are women, than the misogynistic environment of the police.

The police need to hire decent police officers in the first place.

I know they do exist, I know if a couple, but there must be more to change the culture.

We aren't even challenging misogyny and sexism when we do. It's more subtle things around work attitudes.
