Tragic news from Poland. Seems a woman has died as a direct result of the ban on abortion.

'...doctors who saw the pregnant woman refused to terminate the nonviable pregnancy, even though it could have put the life of the woman at risk. Their final decision was to wait for the fetus to die on its own.

But the patient (a woman yet to be named, a choice made by the lawyer who sounded the alarm) suffered a septic shock after the fetus had died, and she didn’t survive. She leaves behind a husband and a daughter.'

'On November 1, Polish women held vigils in many places around the country in memory of the pregnant woman who had died'

RIP, and my thoughts are with her family. Flowers

Well what a great triumph for the sanctity of life. Hmm Let's hope it peaks a few hundred, thousand people. That poor family.

Horrific, and totally inevitable.

This is the reality every time a law like this is in place. When medical staff are legally required to wait until the fetus dies, there isn't necessarily going to be time left to save the woman.

Additionally, what about the health of the women whose lives survive the mandated dilly-dallying? You can't just switch septic shock off again once it develops. This is an emergency condition, and in any other medical situation, it's something to prevent at all costs and certainly something to be treated straight away.

extract

Once diagnosis has identified the condition as septic shock and the source of infection has been established, treatment is imparted accordingly. At this juncture, the question that arises ishow long? After treatment has been initiated, complete recovery may take a couple to several months, depending upon the severity of the infection and the diligence observed in treating the condition. The earliest the treatment is started, the lesser the recovery time. However, in cases where organ damage has taken place, it can take the patient about several months to a couple of years to fully recover.

Most of the time, the organs which face the threat of damage from septic shock are the pancreas, kidneys, the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Since these are vital organs, any damage therein or any instance of organ shut down can have damaging effect upon the overall health and immunity of the patient and an adverse effect on any of these organs further lowers the patient’s immune defense. Therefore, recovery time for sepsis is heavily dependent upon the extent of damage that has been caused to these vital organs as a result of septic shock.

That's tragic, how awful.

This is 2021 for Christs sake.

My great-grandmother died as atheist result of a back-street abortion just over 100 years ago. Isn’t life supposed to get better?

Kitten- sadly when it comes to rights esp women's rights that can be and are removed if that's what those in charge decide.

Iran, Afghanistan. Poland. More? I'm sure there are.

Sort of what we have we have been generously allowed but could be removed again.
