I don't know who Gordon Dangerfield is, but he has come up with an interesting test.

Bit biased. I mean, I agree with him, but this article is unlikely to change anyone's mind.

Do you know, when I was wavering somewhere in the middle, it was exactly these sorts of thought experiments that eventually clarified my POV. I think I had to sit with it a long time before I could honestly acknowledge that actually, I don't think TW are ever women (they are TW) or TM ever men (they are TM). Partly because of the uncomfortable alliances Dangerfield references.

Can't say for sure I'd have been persuaded by such a strident tone... although mind you, I'm not sure what the ideal tone for getting someone to clarify underlying beliefs about gender identity, and the policy positions that flow from them, might be. Too gentle and persuasive also sets off a lot of alarm bells.

He's great! Never heard of him before.

That’s not what I was expecting at all, they’re pretty much the same question, I thought the second two might be two different scenarios e.g. a prison and a refuge. The tone at the start wasn’t neutral so that might put some people off too, I think.
