For a person who identifies as 'intersex'
I utterly despair at this madness

I'm not sure how well this will go down in certain parts of the world. It might just flag someone for extra inspection and/or denial of entry.

Intersex isn't an identity its biological fact. If they start doing this for people who are non binary that's different.

Does Zzyym actually have a DSD condition or is "intersex" simply a chosen identity?

Zzyym, who identifies as intersex

Pudmyboy · 27/10/2021 19:02

Later in the article it says " Zzyym.... was born with ambiguous physical sexual characteristics but was raised as a boy, and subsequently underwent several surgeries that failed to make them appear fully male, court filings reveal." So would appear to be genuinely intersex. In that case I can understand the wish to have a separate category. But not for those who simply 'identify'.

Thanks for that helpful clarification.

This isn't for intersex people is it....

In America you can apply for your passport with a self declared chosen gender even one that wasn't "assigned at birth" with no medical certification. It's a pure self ID system.

So now anyone can select "X" if they feel like it. I can hear blue haired specials clapping.

I think intersex people are being used as a Trojan Horse here:

The department initially announced in June plans of adding a third gender marker for nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming people, but disclaimed that the process would take time, due to required, extensive updates to its computer systems.

A department official also added that the passport application and system update with the 'X' designation option still need to be approved by the Office of Management and Budget, which approves all government forms, before they can be issued.

I bet this will make the number of young Americans passport holders skyrocket.

I really don’t understand this part either, though it may be because I don’t work in the industry so perhaps it’s covered, but if someone flies into a country where this simply isn’t recognised, what will happen upon presenting it to try and gain entry? Would other countries systems even process it as valid, or would it automatically flag up errors and refusals? For instance, does the UK currently recognise “X” passports?
