Still to reach critical mass, keep going

catzwhiskas · 24/10/2021 01:14

Only about 30 seconds of coverage on rolling Tv news this evening. Women in Spain definitely organising . So many notifications on watts app, but it does seem that capture has taken place at all levels

EyesOpening · 24/10/2021 09:00

That can’t be right, I thought there was only ever 100 on the ground together, or something?

MissMarpleRocks · 24/10/2021 09:04

I’d probably go to something similar here if it was organised & I could attend if I was well enough (RA).

Mrsjamin · 24/10/2021 09:38

Wow that's amazing to see.

Irene montero is Spain's equality minister and does not see the conflict between women's rights and trans rights. That's who they are protesting against, I think?

LaBellina · 24/10/2021 09:42

Surprised and very very happy to see this.
Hopefully this will wake up more people to what is done to us in the name of ‘inclusion’.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/10/2021 09:42

it is brilliant to see this. inspiring women

Should have added, I picked that up from Professor Kathleen Stock's Twitter account this morning. I pressed send too soon, apologies.

NonnyMouse1337 · 24/10/2021 10:16

It's so cool that so many women turned up for the march. Smile

These protests - widespread across Spain for over a year - have been largely unreported by the Spanish media which is keeping quiet even though trans activists have publicly and physically attacked the women protesting.

Spain has already passed 44 pro-trans laws focussed on education, health and self-ID that have been quietly passed in regional parliaments over the last five years without public scrutiny, as per the tactics set out in the Dentons document.

A biology professor was suspended by a university for stating the biological fact that humans cannot change sex.

The Zerolo law makes the failure to use “correct” pronouns a criminal offence with a fine of €150.

This Self ID bill law is exceptionally dangerous for women. It combines three of the most worrying elements observed in other countries: instant Self ID for anyone who wants it (including male predators); conversion therapy for lesbian and gay children to make them appear 'straight'; prohibiting "watchful waiting" and classing therapeutic approaches as "transphobic,"; and extending hate crime and hate speech laws that will silence criticism of gender identity laws, and prevent women and children from saying when they see a man before them.

Self ID, by the way, would be open to any child aged 13 and over.

Many in Spain are unaware of the stealthy process in Parliament taking place without public consent. The media is silent - or has been silenced, take your pick.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 24/10/2021 11:17

Largely unreported in Spain - completely unreported in Australia, and can't even find reference to it if I do a Google search. Found ONE pic on Getty images.

However, a nice lady on Twatter has given me this youtube link

It honestly brought tears to my eyes, watching it. All those wonderful women.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 24/10/2021 11:20

The Spanish women who participate in the WHRC sessions have been desperate for some time. They can not get coverage for what is happening to policy in Spain nor their protests.

TedsFederationRep · 24/10/2021 11:23

If anyone is on Twitter, please retweet, like, quote, retweet. They are desperate to get international attention in order to force the issue into the media and the public consciousness at home.

QueenSue · 24/10/2021 11:28

Just how many women protesting together in public can be ignored?!

TedsFederationRep · 24/10/2021 11:30

From what I understand, the protests took place in 19 Spanish cities with Madrid being the largest.

The answer to your question is "all of them".

19 cities. No news. Shock

ScreamingMeMeSawUs · 24/10/2021 12:19

WOW.

1Week · 24/10/2021 12:36

Maybe it'll turn out to have been a superspreader event, if they myst acknowledge it Hmm

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 24/10/2021 12:50

That’s amazing! 💜💜💜

But so shit it’s barely being reported.

Very, very worrying

Horrific.

It really is. Amazing to see that crowd in central Madrid, and hear so many women's voices all together.

I'd be happier if it weren't so utterly sinister that a) they need to march for this in the first place and b) it's completely unreported.
