Writing to my MP

Has anyone had a problem contacting their MP using the form on the Write to Them website? I wrote to my MP yesterday about an issue relating to gender id. You have to wait for an email confirming your email address before your letter is sent to Them. This should take 15 minutes. I did this yesterday at 4 and still haven't received an email from them.

My question is, do you think it's possible that an actual human has read my letter and has decided it's 'transphobic' and refused to send it? I would have assumed that it was an automatic process but I'm a bit suspicious after that letter Taiwo wrote last week about Kathleen Stock/ LGBAlliance went public!

Hope this makes sense, any thoughts?

I emailed my labour MP a couple of months ago. I had an automatic response, and then an email asking for my address to confirm I lived in her constituency.

Then nothing.

It's a shame, she's a great MP on other stuff. If she'd acknowledged that there is an issue and shown willing to engage with it constructively I'd probably have still voted for her, even if her conclusion was TWAW.

But nothing.

@SorryAuntLydia

Same here. My MP replied within 2 days to my issues that were not related to women’s rights. My emails regarding women’s rights were ignored. I tried to see her at her surgery but she was ‘too busy’, then covid. I’m not sure how these MPs think it’s ok to ignore their constituents, but I’m not clear how I can complain.
One way would be to raise it with the local party chair or committee - in some parties at least, that is who selects them to represent the constituency. Of course they might be thick as thieves with their local party but there is also the party head office where you could raise it if you don't get anywhere locally.

At some level, no matter how cosy they all are, they are also alert to threats to party reputation and further down the line, the potential loss of seats, especially marginal or recently hard-won ones.

As a further option and last resort, there is also the local press but be wary and don't go there if you don't care for possible publicity.
