Come out of Stonewall - Protest Friday 22nd October

Angrysaurus · 16/10/2021 12:55

A day of action throughout the UK asking private and public institutions to leave the Stonewall Diversity Scheme

About this event

A National day of action calling on public bodies to #ComeOutOfStonewall

This is a protest led by gays, bisexuals, lesbians and women. We call on all institutions who are still members of their diversity scheme to #LeaveStonewalll.

They are misleading private and governmental organisations about the Equality Act.

They are pushing policies which discriminate against women and harm lesbian, gay, bisexual and autistic children

Their #NoDebate tactics are anti-democratic and have had a 'chilling effect' on freedom of speech

They are promoting a world view which is anti-science and denies the basics of human biology.

This event is open to all, but we especially welcome the participation of women, lesbians, gays and bisexuals. If you would like to make a sign or prepare a speech please do. Dinosaurs also welcome!

Events are happening throughout the UK, in London and elsewhere. More details to follow.

If you are unable to attend the protest, you can take action from your sofa. You can use this resource to write to organisations who are still members of Stonewalls Diversity Champion Scheme, sharing your concerns and asking them to #ComeOutOfStonewall sex-matters.org/posts/updates/leave-stonewall/

Excellent Times editorial!

Cops were called to the Edinburgh protest. Four of them hung about.

Naturally the lone TRA protester gravitated towards them to tell them how mean and scary the women were.

So scary he had to hide his face the whole time.

Mrsjamin · 23/10/2021 08:44

Thank you @Igneococcus and @OldCrone. Good article!

Oh god I didn’t know about that. Classic DARVO to be there in the first place and then claim you feel threatened.

Bloody hell.

The FCA, of all bodies, refused FOI requests for correspondence with a lobbying group?

Where is the accountability? The transparency? This is very shocking.

(Except I am not shocked, such is the insidious hold Stonewall have)

LonginesPrime · 23/10/2021 11:12

Well, the FCA's director of strategy (in charge of FCA policy, among other things) is Stonewall’s chair of trustees, so I think it's fairly obvious why they don't want transparency.

If it weren't for the patriarchy, they'd be shitting themselves.

LonginesPrime · 23/10/2021 11:28

Another Stonewall trustee works in HR in the Civil Service too, according to the website.

I don't have any problem in principle with corporates letting their members be trustees as that's a private matter and people can vote with their feet, but it feels really wrong for public bodies to allow staff to sit on boards of charities that lobby them.

Plus, Stonewall also push private companies to ensure their clients comply with Stonewall "law", so all the big law and accountancy firms who advise the government are pressured by Stonewall to pressure their public sector clients to adopt Stonewall’s values (or be penalised in the index) too.

Stonewall have effectively changed the definition of "conflict of interest" to suit their lobbying aims.

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2021 11:49

Hm, this could possibly lead to bodies that should be there to serve the whole public exerting undue influence in favour of one particular group, couldn't it? Conflict of interest, surely?

It's certainly likely to create Nolan conflicts.

Ofc, it’s called “wearing a mask” like you’re supposed to in public… but that’s a nice narrative to justify hating someone you don’t know
Rhannion · 23/10/2021 22:28

It was outside so masks are not required. He was just trying to hide his identity.

Rhannion · 23/10/2021 22:29

@MsSins

You’s we’re taking pictures & film’s o’ me the whole day, and THATS the best pic you got of me?
Clearly you can’t spell...!
Rhannion · 23/10/2021 23:02

Why were you stalking a group of women in Edinburgh? Why were you taking photos of them? 🚩

Someone needs to introduce this person to an actual hobby, like collecting stamps or something.

Hmmm I think the denial of evolutionary science might make them an unsuitable candidate for that tbh.

My backup idea was making collages from Tunnocks wrappers.

There's a photo of a Come out of Stonewall protest - including dinosaurs- in the Times piece linked to in this thread

You have a problem with a public protest being documented?

It’s all on record on Twitter, under #DinoWatchEdin2021

Btw, how much did you pay to no even get one of those costumes?

NonnyMouse1337 · 24/10/2021 06:02

Bless.... What a way to spend a Friday afternoon trailing around after a group of women. 😆
