I've been thinking about this 'most marginalised and abused' claim this since it is trotted out so often. Appreciate the figures linked to in the OP -murder and suicide stats are clear. Hate crime not so much as it does show a big increase in recent years. I suspect it's true that this is to do with perception rather than reality but would be good to see something more concrete on that as otherwise its hard to refute.
I also got to wondering about groups of people who really are marginalised and oppressed as a comparison when this comes up. How would you measure that? What would be a good example?
