Crikey- comment piece in The Express...

Sorry - can’t figure out the link but it came up in my facebook news feed... it starts:

“IMAGINE you're a woman on a female-only hospital ward. You've come round from an operation, and you're feeling frail and vulnerable. You notice that the person in the bed next to you is... but when you complain to the nurse she tells you that you're wrong. Worse, she treats you as if you're a bigot...”

Shock pulls no punches. I’ve not seen anything in mainstream media like this.

Fantastic

Blessex · 11/10/2021 15:50

@Iwishihadariver make sure he reads this article Grin

No, [The Express] is definitely not a paper that respects it's readers. Overall the Guardian is greatly superior

Any evidence to support these two statements, LaetitiaASD?

I was a dedicated Guardian reader for all my adult life until recently, and the Guardian really had to work hard to shake me off. But it has long forgotten the principles and politics that made it great. It's become a cheerleader for genderism because that's currently fashionable.
Cheap, shoddy journalism.

The Express, on the other hand, I've rarely looked at. I haven't noticed it covering much that I'm interested in. But I'm impressed that it's published a comment piece written by someone who actually knows what she's talking about. And since self-ID's disadvantages to women are so obvious, the Express is showing respect for its readers in alerting them to the hazards.

I'm surprised how much press coverage of the trans issue shows no real research at all -- just repeating long-disproved myths and virtue-signalling. I'd (once) have expected integrity and fact-finding in the Guardian.

The reader demographics cited earlier are interesting. Another way of citing would be:
58% are under 55

ie. definitely of working age and likely to encounter woke woo woo in the workplace.

KittenKong · 11/10/2021 17:47

And the age to have kids of the age where they will be entering higher education/workplace.

@bosky yes I saw those other articles. How come this is not a national scandal. How are the SNP still getting away with this? How are big institutions swallowing all this? Is it because it’s women and nobody really cares about us?

KittenKong · 11/10/2021 17:53

I just keep thinking of the photo of the protest outside the guardian last week “down with that sort of thing... careful now” and chortle to myself.

Seriously, these are the people calling the shots - the government, NHS and big business ‘over-persons’?

Yep

They are the people being used by the people who are calling the shots. We won’t see those people being interviewed on the BBC and, by some strange oversight, that protest was not covered in The Guardian at all, let alone with a technicolour photo-spread.
KittenKong · 11/10/2021 18:04

Oh I know that - collectively the wouldn’t have the nowse to organise a piss up in a brewery. Still, it’s good to see exactly who we are supposed to be oppressing.

I was a Guardian reader. I'd been reading it since I was a teenager when they used to send current NUS members money-off vouchers for it!

I don't really feel respected by Guardian journalism and I haven't for a long time. It may use longer words than the Daily Express does, but it's possible to credit people with a high reading age and still view them as people to be led.

GretaGip · 11/10/2021 18:27

#yesthankyou

MrsOvertonsWindow · 11/10/2021 18:28

Every time I read something like this I still am Shock that NHS managers openly want to place male born sex offenders in hospital wards with women and girls. Ten years ago demanding this would have got people sacked.
These are the values of predators being played out in the NHS and our prisons and it's time everyone understands that we have people pushing this working in our services.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 11/10/2021 18:28

And good for the Express for sharing this information so clearly.

Manderleyagain · 11/10/2021 18:47

I clicked through to the Judy finnigan article. I picked up that she had something but I wasn't sure what it was, I guess that's it. I wonder who the radical feminists were who protested her after she said something about a convicted rapist on loose women. It's annoying that the majority of the comments were taking issue with her saying that men have historically oppressed women.

donquixotedelamancha · 11/10/2021 19:05

If everyone on this thread has read the article then the express will be having its most successful week for a long time.

Still every little helps and they do need to find some more content now the amount of new things they have to say about Princess Diana is reducing.

donquixotedelamancha · 11/10/2021 19:09

That joke is very old so I assumed it was no longer true. After a search of the website, I'm wrong: there are genuinely two Dianna articles from today and one from yesterday :-)

PlonitbatPlonit · 11/10/2021 19:21

It's great to see a piece from WPUK in mainstream press. There's loads of comments under the line, hopefully some will decide to go to the meeting on prisons that is mentioned www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-womans-place-is-not-in-prison-tickets-172327715837

Binglebong · 11/10/2021 20:46

An excellent piece. I wish it were duplicated elsewhere as the people I'd like to show it to will automatically dismiss it further the paper.
