A decent review of Feminism for Women and The Right to Sex.

The review made me wonder just how long third wave feminism can keep going, after all, feminism has always been an intellectual pursuit with rigorous debate at its heart. Poor arguments don't hold my attention so I will give The Right to Sex a miss. Not a fan of Julie Bindel but might go for this one.

Bindel has always been straight to the point, full of heart and un-interested in placating middle-class sensibilities. Her new book is no different. Feminism for Women is an impassioned manifesto for the kind of feminism she favours — indeed, the only kind she’s willing to acknowledge as worthy of the name. quote from the article

I'm a big Bindel fan. I'll be reading her book

In my mind, liberal feminism isn't feminism, so I don't acknowledge that there's a rift "within" feminism - just the age-old fight for women's rights against patriarchal structures.

Daily Mail on line this morning - Bindel discussing young women turning their back on feminism. Sorry cannot share...

I've started FFW recently. Interesting history of recent feminism so far.

The audiobook is great because she reads it herself.

I did have one double-take where I misunderstood her accent, and misheard "endure" as "enjoy," though...

Good article. The negative view of feminists as expressed in the comments is depressing.

I've come across several reviews of Julie Bindel's book here and there.

This one, in The Critic by Olivia Hartley, a young feminist, is more descriptive of the content of the book than the average review

This, by Kat Rosenfield, 'a culture writer', in UnHerd, sets Bindel's book in the context of what she sees as the fracturing of feminism in the last ten years and is more analytical and somewhat pessimistic about the future of feminism

I find Rosenfield hit and miss, but I agree with her on this. Bindel herself doesn't have much respect for women who disagree with her about certain subjects and tend to be dismissive. And she uses a lot of the techniques of guilt by association that she criticizes in others.

It's a bit physician heal thyself.
