Straw that broke the camels back today - www.theguardian.com/world/2021/oct/02/pregnant-people-covid-vaccination-coronavirus-us

Can anyone suggest where I can read news where women are referred to by name?

If you contribute to RT's viewing figures you are boosting their advertising revenue.

They're not like Al Jazeera, for example, that is monumentally biased with it's anti-semitic documentaries, and never breathes a word of criticism of Qatar and all the dead bodies that fell in the cement to build the World Cup stadiums. They are selective. But they don't actually lie.

RT on the other hand has promoted all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories about the Litvinenko and Sturgess murders, and Ukraine, where they excelled themselves with a mock-up collage that could have been made by Year 5 showing Ukrainian jets attacking MH17, allegedly a screenshot from Google Earth.

Block them.

I agree RT cant be trusted on Russian news but will report things our news wont. If I was Russian I would read the Guradian to get news about Russia but as Im English I will read RT to get info I would not get with home broadcasters.

I have no qualms about boosting RT to be honest. I view our gov as corrupt as Putin really, maybe they are a bit more covert about it but there is no difference.

dyslek · 04/10/2021 10:08

The Ukranian gov are openly allied with fasicists, it seems no one has clean hands anywhere.

The fact that you can say that without fear of having your pants poisoned is proof it's not true.

We're gona have to agree to disagree. I would not cross off any media outlet given what we've all seen (espicially if the likes of the guardian and BBC is telling you to)

Jaysmith71 · 04/10/2021 10:14

We can disagree amicably with nobody ending up in Salisbury Hospital.

The Economist — which isn't just about economics. It's proper grown-up reporting from around the world and that costs money, but they do decent special offers for newbies.

Or the Observer, which is only out on a Sunday. Actually, if we all bought the Observer and boycotted the Guardian the other days of the week it would make a clear point to the Guardian. They're all part of the same trust.

Fascinated that no one seems to have nominated the BBC. How far has the BBC fallen that no one believes it's a neutral, reliable news source any more?

So true.

Conspiracy theorist alert.

Took four hours to come up with that 'clincher,' which you are free to disseminate in this country without fear of getting gunned down on a bridge or beaten to death in prison for exposing corruption.

Why not move in with Snowden if you like it so much?

RoyalCorgi · 04/10/2021 18:27

I've been pleasantly surprised by how good the Times is. Not only do you have the fabulous Janice Turner, you have Lucy Bannerman doing very good reporting on the trans issue, plus you have some really terrific female columnists such as Deborah Ross, plus the news reporting generally is excellent. The downside is the reams of fashion reporting on Wednesday and the overall right-wing bias of the columnists. But they have so many columnists you wouldn't have time to read them all anyway.

Jaysmith71 · 04/10/2021 18:30

It's not the content of the Times that is objectionable.

It is the owner.
