Let's all do the Labour Party Swivel

I know this has been said before, but I do find it astonishing that, whenever a Labour politician is asked about Women's Rights, they immediately swivel onto Trans Rights.
Rachel Reeves (blinking and looking uncomfortable) did it with Cathy Newman yesterday.
It just seems that they really don't care, or think that Women won't mind. Be nice, ladies.

Well, it does at least prove our point that they are in conflict. Wouldn't it be amazing if a politician said actually, what we need to address is the problem of male prejudice and violence, if it is making biological males who do not conform to conservative stereotypes of male behaviour and dress feel uncomfortable in the company of other males, in situations where spaces are segregated by biological sex for women's safety, privacy and dignity.

The Labour party have been such a massive disappointment on this issue.

How any of them can be so unprepared when they are asked the most basic of questions regarding sex and gender is just mind boggling.

If just one of them could say what they REALLY thought it would be so bloody refreshing.

Yes, when anyone says Women, they immediately say Trans. Not just LP politicians but most other parties. It’s as if the word Woman was being erased …

That would indeed be amazing, IvyTwines2

Watching RR yesterday was uncomfortable for me - she literally could not speak when asked about this on LBC. It was extraordinary - cognitive dissonance in action.

I cannot understand why these politicians haven't got a prepared phrase in their heads to answer this, as they know they are all going to be asked something along these lines. She could have said 'I do feel it is transphobic because not everyone with a cervix identifies as a woman' if that is her belief or 'Only females have a cervix and the descriptive noun for adult human female is woman, therefore it is factually correct but not very inclusive etc' but no, we got the spluttering while she wrestled with the truth as she knew it versus what she was meant to say.

But you have to say and think the RIGHT thing these days even though none of them can quite work out what that is because as soon as they are happily chanting four legs good two legs bad they will suddenly find that the rules have changed and two legs are in power and then twitter will cancel them and so they choose to talk what they know is nonsense.

PickAChew · 28/09/2021 10:32

But they couldn't possibly piss off male voters. That's almost half of the electorate! Unthinkable! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️

They are being phenomenally stupid in making it very clear the past few days, as are the Lancet: they see women's rights and trans rights as two things that cannot exist at the same time.

They're making it clear that it's one or the other. Pick a side. One wins, one loses.

How they are too stupid to realise this, and the possible ramifications of this, makes me wonder what the actual fuck their advisors are on and getting paid for. Danger will robinson, great big huge fat danger.
