Great article, thanks for sharing.

Worth noting for those passing this on, this piece is mostly specifically about one puberty blocker: Lupron.

WarriorN · 22/09/2021 06:27

That's true but when I've looked I'm not sure the others have fewer effects?

What are the names of the medications typically used for early puberty in girls in the UK ?

They all work in the same way.

I believe this is one

"Use: For the treatment of pediatric patients 2 years of age and older with central precocious puberty (CPP)"

But it is used at the onset of puberty too.

I've just been reading about the Geiers and their 'lupron protocol' 'miracle' treatment for autism. It's worth looking up - they were struck off, with experts back then talking of the dangers to children's hearts, and bones from the treatment, but it really does feel that something like it has been snuck back in under the cover of transgenderism.

NecessaryScene · 22/09/2021 11:03

Someone highlighted that about the guy running "Science Based Medicine", David Gorski, who's currently all-in on puberty-blockers being safe, and has been warring against Abigail Shrier and the "weaponised pedantry" of Jesse Singal

Back then he was pointing out the totally unknown and experimental nature of these drugs, and what a bunch of unevidenced nonsense that autism stuff was.

Chemical castration for autism: After three years, the mainstream media finally notices

How Science-Based Medicine Botched Its Coverage Of The Youth Gender Medicine Debate

Clearly the "trans" thing is breaking people's brains.

Anotheruser02 · 22/09/2021 11:36

data showed that some of the children taking the drugs reported an increase in thoughts of suicide and self-harm.
In addition, a Swedish study showed that after transition, patients had a 19x higher rate of suicide than matched controls
The already very weak survey where the TRA's suicide stats originated did not ask at which stage of transition the (very small handful of) trans people were at when they had these feelings, it was left to the layperson to assume it was as a result of just 'being trans' or a consequence of being denied affirmation.

IvyTwines2 · 22/09/2021 11:36

Thanks for the links. It's 'interesting' that in the years since then, the online culture aimed at young people has produced a situation where many teenagers with ASD are actively demanding to be put on lupron. I'd love to see an Adam Curtis-style programme digging into the history of all this, key points and players in the 'journey' to where we are right now.

DisgustedofManchester · 22/09/2021 13:05

This old chestnut again. Firstly, Bell didn't start on PBs until she was 16 ( at the earliest, no one knows how old she was when she actually started on them ) so the high court judgement actually had nothing to do with her personal history. Also she was on them less than a year probably as she started CSH at 17.

The issues with Lupron ( of which there are some serious ones ) is with women who are pre / menopausal. None of the issues this group have, have been seen in adolescents. That'd be because of course the hormonal balance of adolescent natal females is very different to pre / menopausal women. Buy you all knew that.... didn;t you?

There have been significant health problems in girls who were prescribed this drug for precocious puberty.

For years, Sharissa Derricott, 30, had no idea why her body seemed to be failing. At 21, a surgeon replaced her deteriorated jaw joint. She’s been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition. Her teeth are shedding enamel and cracking.

None of it made sense to her until she discovered a community of women online who describe similar symptoms and have one thing in common: All had taken a drug called Lupron.

There's something very repellent in watching men twisting facts and language to convince children - especially girls - that they must be drugged and medicated in order to fulfil the demands of the ideology said males are promoting.

Quite.
Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 22/09/2021 13:32

There are so many adults cheerleading the use of these powerful drugs on young people, especially young women.

I wonder why that might be.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/09/2021 14:08

Agreed Wrongsideofhistorymyarse

Michael Cashman, dripping in influence, celebrating the removal of safeguards to protect vulnerable children from the awful impacts of drugs and surgery. And ironically funded massively by the taxpayer to promote his dangerous views from his elevated unelected position:

Catching up on the thread; you've all said exactly what I'd say re effects of lupron, as we all know that.

There's even a lupron victims forum...

Eg, from a link in that hub:

It is worthwhile here to revisit the atrocities committed during the only Lupron lawsuit to make it to trial (Karin Klein v. TAP/Abbott, Case 2:08-cv-00681-RLH-RJJ, 2011) – many prior lawsuits having been quietly settled with secrecy agreements. Karin Klein, at age 17, was prescribed Lupron Depot 3.75 mgs in 2005 when Lupron’s label no longer contained the prior-listed warnings about adverse thyroid events. Karin developed, among others, chronic autoimmune Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Belatedly learning of Lupron Depot 3.75 mgs’ prior US label warnings of adverse thyroid effects, as well as the prior and current similar warnings in foreign labels, Klein sued for failure to warn

That's a 17 year old.

As someone who developed thyroid disease, undiagnosed for a few year, in my last teens, I can say I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I can only work two days a week now. I was well managed for many years but finding peri very hard.

Placemarking. I have to read the studies before I can share, there’s so much bad science reporting out there :/

Indeed
TheWeeDonkey · 23/09/2021 10:51

That's actually really chilling. Has anyone watching Crime of the Century? Its a really excellent documentary on Sky Documentaries I think and well worth a watch. Its about the opiate epidemic and focuses mainly in US.

I can see so many parallels. From the creation of a whole new medical need to be fulfilled, conveniently with a drug they only have low demand for its original purpose to how easily people in power from medical professionals to politicians and lawyers can be brought, to how low the consequences are for the people at the top, and the only lessons ever learned are, this can be done and this is how you get away with it.

This is no different, but it will be at least another 10 years before people see it and then it will be too late.
