I'm interested looking at the list of MPs who have been nominated to receive a book via the Sex Matters Campaign and thinking about those that haven't. I think it says a lot about the MPs that haven't been nominated - in the case of my MP I suspect he has not been nominated because it would be a complete waste of time (he simply wouldn't bother to read it - not because he would disagree with the content but he is lazy). I suspect there are good reasons others haven't been nominated either and I almost think it is slightly embarrassing for MPs not to be on the list - it either means they are considered of no consequence or that their constituents do not think it is worth communicating with them. I think that if I was an MP and wasn't on the list I'd be paying to send the book to myself to ensure I was on the list rather than being a glaring omission. It reminds me of when I was taught that "When you stop getting feedback it means people have given up on you".
Anyway...those are my thoughts. I'd be interested to hear what others think. Meanwhile I am going to pay for another book to be sent to another head of D&I at a large company - I think this is also a key area to be targeting (along with heads of secondary schools).
