A design for park gates in Scotland.
Artist asks are they female? twitter.com/defiaye/status/1426950743840395267?s=19

What on earth is going on in the heads of these post mod women.

MonsignorMirth · 16/08/2021 10:15

They've got a point - but it's a good dodge of the issue.

MonsignorMirth · 16/08/2021 10:16

Anyone remember these female legs?

littlbrowndog · 16/08/2021 10:39

Disgusting. Imagine going to the park with your kids and seeing that 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

TheWeeDonkey · 16/08/2021 10:40

So this is a park? A kiddies play park?

Reading the artist's comments a woman was recently (sexually?) assaulted there and the artist thought this is a good idea?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It must take hell of a lot of education to be that clueless.

Tibtom · 16/08/2021 10:41

I saw mentioned that this is a park where a woman was raped recently...

AssassinatedBeauty · 16/08/2021 10:47

Why does a disembodied pair of spread legs in high heels give the park a "feminine vibe"?? Especially if we are also being invited to consider the assumption that the legs are representing a woman. If they could equally be regarded as male then what makes this image particularly feminine in the mind of the artist? It's contradictory nonsense.

The original piece of art that these legs came from, on display in an Icelandic museum, makes much more sense as a thought provoking piece about costume and gender stereotypes. Why did the council and the art organisation they paid for this feel that this "reworking" of the original makes a better statement about the same topic??

Tibtom · 16/08/2021 10:54

So "yoi think they are women's legs spread for sex because that is the obvious interpretation, well haha! They're not! They are actually an example of aggressive manspreading. We think it makes the park more feminine."

Are all arms of government in Scotland making a point of showing everyone they possibly can that they hate women?
I mean is this some kind of stance they have deliberatly taken up, for some reason they are keeping secret?

SmokedDuck · 16/08/2021 12:20

Classy.

Hopeisallineed · 16/08/2021 12:21

I would not class that as art.

ditalini · 16/08/2021 12:33

I'm trying to think of a way in which it's not shit.

In concept? Shit.
In execution? Shit.

It looks like a shitty prop from a drag club or amateur theatre production.

mollythemeerkat · 16/08/2021 12:39

Someone on the other thread suggested it was appropriate because the park is a place where some prostitutes meet their clients!

BuffysBigSister · 16/08/2021 13:04

The installation has been removed or is being removed today according to a local councillor.

NewlyGranny · 16/08/2021 14:44

Well that's good news, Big Sister, but how much council taxpayers' money has been wasted, I wonder?

And when are the grownups going to be back in the building?!

PinniGig · 16/08/2021 14:53

It's not so much that it's offensive but that it's so shit. Not just your average shit this is Blackpool postcard tacky ass kinda shit and someone came up with that idea and someone else agreed.

Vast, unprecedented levels of sheer shit going on here.

Exactly - I have seen some awful modern art but this doesn't even count as art. The legs seem to have been removed now and replaced with some lovely suffragette ribbons
Hopeisallineed · 16/08/2021 15:53

It’s offensive and shit. It’s a double whammy.

FreeBritnee · 16/08/2021 15:55

You can bullshit anything into sounding reasonable. Particularly when it comes to ‘art’.

ZealAndArdour · 16/08/2021 15:55

“Giving the area a feminine vibe”. Ahh

FFS.

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 16/08/2021 16:18

I await with bated breath for the “woke” narrative to be something along the lines of “horrible middle class white feminists campaign to remove immigrant’s work from local park”. Everything’s our fault.

PickAChew · 16/08/2021 16:20

The only message I'm getting is tacky AF

Greystray · 16/08/2021 16:24

"the work"? It looks like an end of year 6th form prank.

Where is the bar for being an artist these days?

Gothichouse40 · 16/08/2021 16:27

Honest to goodness, who thought this was a good idea? I hope it is getting removed and soon.
