An appeal on twitter, with good basic points of law highlighted, to complain about the BBC publishing a journalists' handbook with potentially unlawful guidance. Includes link for complaining.

The BBC is now defining homosexuality as gender based attraction, not sex based.
I complained about this a month ago, and the BBC have not responded to the complaint within the time limit. Perhaps because they don't actually have a defensible position? See here, with useful contact addresses:
"We are contacting you to apologise that we’ve not been able to reply to your complaint within the time period we aim for. Although we manage this for most complaints, we regret it’s not been possible so far because we have been dealing with a higher than normal number of cases.
If you wish to refer this delay and the substance of your complaint to the BBC’s regulator Ofcom, you can do so online at www.ofcom.org.uk/tv-radio-and-on-demand/how-to-report-a-complaint/bbc-tv-channel-radio-station-bbciplayer or by post to: Ofcom, Riverside House, 2a Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA. Please include for Ofcom your latest correspondence from and to the BBC and any BBC case reference numbers which you have been given.
Full details of the BBC’s complaints process can be found by visiting www.bbc.co.uk/contact/how-we-handle-your-complaint, and details of Ofcom’s complaints process are available at www.ofcom.org.uk/tv-radio-and-on-demand/information-for-industry/guidance/procedures.

In the meantime we appreciate your patience and will respond as soon as we can.

Kind regards

BBC Complaints Team

I complained to the BBC about their internal Style Guide defining homosexuality as sexual attraction between people of the same gender. After a very long wait (in breach of their complaints policy) this is their response (actually it's a complete non-response):

"Thank you for getting in touch about the BBC’s Style Guide.

Our Style Guide is independently determined by the BBC, in consultation with our audiences, staff networks, industry experts, as well as key stakeholders from inside and outside of the organisation.

Thank you once again for getting in touch.

Kind regards,

BBC Complaints Team

That's really arrogant. I'd write back.

Do escalate it to Ofcom. The procedure is that you need to have complained to the BBC first before escalating to Ofcom.

Redefining a protected characteristic is serious. And homophobic.

Looks like the standard reply to people complaining about grammar or style choices; ten items or less, The Shetlands, etc.
