They really are a bunch of cunts aren’t they

TinaYouFatLard · 29/07/2021 15:18

Words fail me. Some days I honestly can’t take it anymore.

I think Hubbard will deliberately lose.

Lordamighty · 29/07/2021 15:48

And while Budgett appeared to accept that Hubbard had an advantage from going through male puberty, he also stressed that inclusivity was an important factor too.

Absolutely, there just aren’t enough white, middle aged, biological males, sons of multi millionaires competing at the Olympics. Just be kind everybody & let them compete in the women’s events so they can go home with medals that they couldn’t legitimately win when they competed in the men’s events.

JellySlice · 29/07/2021 15:51

So, it would be fine for all the women taking part to simulate a male puberty, too, by taking testosterone through their teens? They could stop long enough in advance to meet the regulations.

If gender-beliefs are more important than physical sex for l determining in which category the athlete competes, then why shouldn't a transman meet the standards applied to transwomen in order to compete among females?

MrGHardy · 29/07/2021 16:25

Is he still the same one that back when they decided to allow transwomen said "we know they have an advantage but let's see what the politics will end up as", or something along those lines.

Dirtbag.

MrGHardy · 29/07/2021 16:27

"I think Hubbard will deliberately lose."

Never. But Hubbard is not quite good enough to win. A) Never was a top male anyway and B) is old now. If Hubbard had done this 10 years ago probably would have won.

JackGrealishsShorts · 29/07/2021 17:11

@TinaYouFatLard

I couldn't get to the end of that article. I'm absolutely raging at all of this.

Some days it's too much. Too too much.

I had some ribbons to tie. I'm going to use the accompanying message 'Laurel Hubbard is a CHEAT'.

littlebilliie · 29/07/2021 17:43

@MoreRainThanAnyYet

“Everyone agrees transgender women are women.”

I think that confuses a lot of people into thinking we're talking about actual, born female, vagina-ed women, who have transitioned.

Who is "Everyone"

The Guardian is posting twaddle now

Cailleach1 · 29/07/2021 17:51

I'm sure Budgett, and all the other male officials of the IOC, have limitless honesty and integrity in their role. I know other organisations which had such power were found out eventually to have corrupt officials who were compromised by money and bribes, like Fifa.

I can be assured by the fact that the IOC (and Ritchie Budget) left no stone unturned in the expansive and wide amount of peer reviewed, scientific papers which showed that there was no physical, biological or performance difference in males who identified as women, and women. I am touched by their principled way they take uphold responsibility for the interests of fairness and safety of women.

I suppose that women won't be doped by their nations anymore. They can just send an actual male in now. And they are brave and laudable for doing it.

I will have all cheating sportspeople down as brave now. Lance Armstrong had cancer you know. David Walsh should have extended his kindness and understanding to Armstrong instead of hounding him. The Tour de France cyclist actually had a life threatening illness. He could have died. Also, at least Walsh doesn't have to accuse someone who is taking synthetic testosterone as being a cheat. The male levels of testosterone in a male body is all natural. Not natural for women against whom such people are competing, but it would appear that Walsh is not unhappy for women to have to compete against such opposition. It doesn't appear to me that the IOC officials or sports commentators (most male as well) are too troubled by this either, or about fairness or safety being removed for women.

TheSlayer · 29/07/2021 17:58

Haiku:

(En)titled Man

Living his best life.
Trampling on the dreams of women
The man is a cheat.

JackGrealishsShorts · 29/07/2021 18:50

Wouldn't it be great to see Budgett unceremoniously kicked out of his job and replaced by a woman, even better if she was someone that had somehow 'cheated' her way to get there.

Even better if that 'woman' happened to be biologically male. All for 'inclusivity', you see. Wonder how budgett would feel.

Funnily enough I can't see it happening, can you.

MondayYogurt · 29/07/2021 19:30

The question needs to be asked, why isn't the IOC doing more to ensure transmen are at the Olympics? Surely it's transphobic to leave out an entire group of competitors?

Chickenyhead · 29/07/2021 19:43

Well the IOC are waiting until after the Olympics to change the rules. This support for Hubbard is an indicator of which way the changes will go.

Surely when we start getting top male athletes, rather than mediocre ones, becoming transwomen, there will no longer be such a thing as women's sports anyway.

RedDogsBeg · 29/07/2021 19:50

So Laurel Hubbard is a woman, is competing under the rules of her federation and we have to pay tribute to her courage and tenacity in actually competing and qualifying for the Games.

No, Laurel Hubbard is not a woman and no we don't have to pay tribute to a fucking cheat.

Chickenyhead · 29/07/2021 19:52

Laurel Hubbard KNOWS they are not and never will be an actual woman. Transwomen ok. But not a woman.

ShortBacknSides · 29/07/2021 21:06

We can't ask the athletes who have trained all their life for this one shot to waste it like that.

That’s the dilemma isn’t it @TheSlayer

It’s those individual women who have to take this shit.

I’m old enough to remember the 70s and 80s and the controversies over the East German women athletes who were ‘doped’ with testosterone. I remember an Australian swimmer (might have been the great and wonderful Shane Gould) saying that you saw and heard them in the locker rooms, and they looked very masculine, sounded very masculine, but you had to swim against them.

Once again, 40 years later, women are on the firing lane.

KohlaParasanda · 29/07/2021 22:28

Courage and tenacity, my arse. Poor little shy little quiet little Laurel who just wants to join in like all the other girls, my arse. Privileged hulk of a white male-bodied person with no compunction about putting the boot into a young woman's Olympic prospects, and not an abstract young woman, a real young woman who has a face and a name.

I am sure that whatever he may believe personally or remember from his biological science textbooks, Dr Budgett has to spout the official IOC line if he wants to keep his glamorous job. But he has a fucking nerve to presume he speaks for me. I do NOT agree any such thing.

No but spectators could. I've already submitted to the lottery for the commonwealth games but I'm considering trying to get one for the weightlifting to turn my back if hubbard competes.

The final is 3rd August 2-4.30 NEC hall 1 if anyone wants to organise a shopping trip.

I'd love some of the men who have retired in recent years to come out as trans, just to compete, not change anything, not their names or clothing, nothing.

Can you imagine Usain Bolt lining up against the women?

DryHeave · 30/07/2021 06:19

Everyone agrees the emperor’s new clothes are utterly magnificent...

JackGrealishsShorts · 30/07/2021 07:16

*I'd love some of the men who have retired in recent years to come out as trans, just to compete, not change anything, not their names or clothing, nothing.

We need them to do this so badly. When are more men going to grow a bloody backbone and start speaking out on this? I'm struggling to think of a man competing in sports currently who has spoken on it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Chersfrozenface · 30/07/2021 07:26

@TheSlayer
I can't ask the athletes who have trained all their life for this one shot to waste it like that.

Well give it a few years and female athletes will train all their lives and not get a shot at any podium.

1Endeavour2 · 30/07/2021 07:26

It's like women don't exist. Men want to play so they have to be 'included'. Include them in mens sport then.
What gets me is that women have no value and he feels confident enough to say it.
What is the sex balance of the Olympic Committee?
I will not watch the games any more.

NotBadConsidering · 30/07/2021 07:51

@TurquoiseBaubles

Did any of you see the mixed medley swimming relay?

Anyone who saw that can't possibly ever think that having male competitors in female sport is fair.

And the mixed triathlon too. The entire strategy involved in winning these sorts of events revolves around how best to mitigate the sex-based differences. A team needs to minimise any loss a female might have against a male, or take as much gain as possible from the obvious advantage a male might have over a female. Sex-based differences are the entire point of the race FFS! Whichever teams have females that don’t cost time will win.

But no, there are no advantages of males apparently Hmm. Fuck off, IOC man.

Zeugma · 30/07/2021 07:58

Mrsjamin Interesting pictures. I read on here that there was something.......thought-provoking about some members of the Chinese women's 3x3 basketball team. I actually went back and watched on catch-up and it's something to ponder, isn't it?

DaisiesandButtercups · 30/07/2021 08:35

“Well give it a few years and female athletes will train all their lives and not get a shot at any podium.”

I don’t think they will, girls will understand that they have no place in sport, coaches and sports organisations will understand it to. Women and girls in sport will be done for at all levels. So eventually no female athlete will realistically be able to aspire to compete at any level. We’ll just be doing non-competition sports solo such as jogging, cycling, horse riding or getting together with female friends for tennis or badminton perhaps.

We never even got to the point where women’s sport had equal funding and coverage with men’s.

We never even got out of the sexualised clothing required in some women’s sport.

Now we’re on the verge of losing it all.
