Period pants

I need new period pants and all the places I've looked seem to be unable to bring themselves to use the words "woman" or "female."

I'm not going to spend my money somewhere that doesn't even recognise my existence. Does anyone have any recommendations for period pants without a side dose of gender woo? Thanks!

Placemarking because I have exactly the same question.

Alternista · 27/07/2021 15:48

Mine are from M&S, in the “womenswear” section if that helps, though i know they’ve been crap re changing rooms…

Worldgonecrazy · 27/07/2021 15:49

Primark?

AfternoonToffee · 27/07/2021 15:55

I have some from Flux.

Wuka use women, girls, transmen and anyone who needs us in their wording which I think about covers everyone that needs to be covered without excluding anyone. I haven’t tried them so can’t personally recommend but you could start there?

Cheeky wipes?

Period pants

Wuka are great. More expensive and take an age to dry, but very good quality.

hazelnutlatte · 27/07/2021 16:02

Iceni silver - just checked the about us page - their products are aimed at women and girls

Eyesofdisarray · 27/07/2021 16:03

DD loves cheeky wipes pants. Had to search their website for a while to find the word 'woman' though rather than 'people'

They wash well and dry quick

I think that’s good wording.

I use giggle knickers - they are marketed as incontinence knickers rather than period pants but I've found they work fine for both.

Obviously ModiBodi are the worst offenders so probably not a contender for your purchases but not only that but their customer service was terrible. I honestly felt like I was jumping through hoops of fire to return something.

Unicornish · 27/07/2021 16:13

Thanks everyone! Lots to look into. Thanks

Apologies if I’m missing something obvious but what’s the issue with modibodi? The section is called “women” and I can see “ “women” in lots of places on the website?
MrsEko · 27/07/2021 16:37

Maybe they backtracked. There was a 1000 post thread on it but it was taken down. The jist of it was that Modibodi's marketing referred to 'people who menstrate'.

Regardless, their customer service was rubbish.

TheSlayer · 27/07/2021 16:46

I have Wuka. They are fine but stained now. Don't know if anyone has solved that problem.
Don't use fabric conditioner. It makes them less absorbent.

KathyMunhoe · 27/07/2021 18:16

www.modibodi.co.uk/collections/women - I did write to them a while ago and am pleased to see that they again very clearly differentiate between women and men.

As an aside, has anyone tried their swimwear? Can't quite figure out how that would work!

Goldensyrupissticky · 27/07/2021 18:21

I am disappointed with my pants from Cheeky Wipes. They have frayed and are very crinkly sounding, can’t really explain well but there is a definite crinkle sound to them. Have washed and rinsed as per instructions as well. Extremely disappointing as these weren’t cheap.

Have recently got some Marks and Spencer’s ones, much cheaper but wash better and no crinkle. Does have a weird feeling seam across the back which I am aware of when first put on, presses against my bottom.

NavigatingAdolescence · 27/07/2021 18:24

I bought add the boy shirts and no such issues. Weird.

PoodleOodle · 27/07/2021 18:28

Not a fan of cheeky wipes either, although mine were purchased a couple of years ago. They are noisy and don't seem to wick away quickly, leaving me uncomfortable and worried about smells. They frayed quickly and the sizing info wore off in a couple of washes. The only good thing is the coverage goes all the way up the front, whereas most others seem to stop in the gusset which isnt great for me.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 27/07/2021 18:29

@KathyMunhoe Dd was a competitive swimmer and I watched a YouTube review on their swimwear to workout if it was worth the £££. The reviewer said they were perfect for sitting poolside/on the beach but not great in the water as they absorbed the sea water and got heavy and felt a bit baggy in the crotch area. Although they could ofcourse have adapted the design in the last year since I watched it.

DD has one of their swimming costumes. She loves it.

“Designed for women by women” - I use their sanpro (very heavy periods, their products are the best I’ve ever used).

Beamur · 28/07/2021 16:47

I have some Modibody pants. They are good.
Sent me a customer feedback questionnaire recently and did ask a range of questions around how they use language on their site and comms and around inclusivity.
I did comment around language but also that I don't appreciate companies assuming a political axis - as a consumer my first interest is in the product, not a lecture.
