I would say it’s unbelievable but it’s really not! I very much doubt you have to dig too far to see a relationship with stonewall

I work in the charity sector and already have to keep quiet because I’d be sacked for my GC ‘sex is a fact’ views or worse sent off for ‘re education’

The worst thing is, they genuinely think they’re the good guys

She's having a go at Sonia Sodha who's fab I think.

The other bullying tweet linked to below this one I think is more worrying as she's bullying a more junior member of staff (who still stands up for herself pretty well).

I think it's easier these days to be GC in the charity sector than it was last year when JKR said her stuff.

ScreamingMeMe · 29/06/2021 18:43

Why do TRAs keep throwing around that "absurdity" quote from Ann Sinnot's case like it's the be-all and end-all? Have they not fully understood the case and recent comments from the ECHR?

Maybe it's because they had to bin all their "Not worthy of respect" memes (on the same background with the rainbows becaise they're so creative) following Maya's case.

TabbyStar · 30/06/2021 07:42

I've been blocked for asking questions. By Charity So Straight too. I'm the wrong type of LGB!

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/06/2021 08:27

I'm reminded of some of those Victorian philanthropists who built hospitals or housing for their workers - Saltaire or Port Sunlight - which (if my memory is correct) offered greatly improved living conditions provided you toed the line and lived an upstanding Christian lifestyle.

Big difference, though. They actually were trying to improve people’s lives, preventing alcoholism, domestic violence etc.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/06/2021 08:33

Is anyone keeping a list of charities that are pushing the anti-women agenda? I stop my direct debits to those I know about, but I only find out one by one. I’s also like to know of those that don’t, but of course they dare not publicise their pro-women policies for fear of attacks by TRAs.

Solomons started agitating against Sodha back in February (I think) when Sodha retweeted something from Forstater.

She’s really ramped it up after Sodha retweeted the editorial in The Observer championing free speech.

Looks very like harassment of a person with a protected belief now though, doesn’t it?

This too, looks very much like bullying.

Solomons has now locked her account.

SciFiScream · 30/06/2021 09:19

I work in the charity sector. I hate this.

CharitySoStraight is jumping on the tail feathers of CharitySoWhite. The latter is doing some inspirational work, the former not so much.

TabbyStar - anyone you can complain to about being blocked? That's awful.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/06/2021 09:23

She's totally twisted what Trust for London said too. Here is their actual reply:

^"As @soniasodha
says, this article represents the views of the Observer. We have a diverse trustee board with a range of experiences & viewpoints, committed to tackling poverty & inequality in London. We have a long history of supporting LGBT+ orgs & will continue to do so."^

I'm also in the sector and I disagree that charity is so straight, at least in the places I've worked.

CSW is doing some amazing (and necessary) work.

Ekofisk · 30/06/2021 09:28

Solomons blocks people asking “awkward” questions too.

A protected belief and someone who is a WoC.

Someday, people like LS must be watching some about McCarthy and have a flash of insight. Surely?

She isn't demonstrating that Sodha has 'trans exclusionary views', but she is doing a very good job of demonstrating why the Observer editorial was necessary.

It’s not clear from the partial archive what the suggestion actually was - does anyone have a screenshot ti send to the charity commission?

TabbyStar · 30/06/2021 09:43

I'm not bothered about being blocked really, I'm just frustrated at the lip service the sector pays to co-production and lived experience when really a lot of them have absolutely no clue and many probably never have a decent conversation with anyone who's really vulnerable. You would have thought that those of us who had experienced trauma and disadvantage might have something useful to add, but seems not!

ScreamingMeMe · 30/06/2021 09:46

It's about excluding people with "trans exclusionary views" from making funding decisions. I posted a screenshot above. She's now locked her account.
merrymouse · 30/06/2021 09:48

I don't think there are grounds for a complaint to the Charities Commission as it's not clear that she was tweeting on behalf of a Charity and it's not clear that she has thought through what she intends to do.

All she seems to have achieved so far is to create a paper trail if anybody did take active steps to remove Sodha from a board.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/06/2021 09:50

She then started tagginf different people/organisations in, in the guise of "opening dialogue".

Sorry yes that was my point @ScreamingMeMe. This is outrageous but I think we’d need to show a screenshot to complain to the CC; what’s been archived isn’t sufficient currently.

TabbyStar · 30/06/2021 10:12

NCVO (interim?) CEO did the same thing, stepping into a discussion that she doesn't really seem to properly understand criticising the LGB Alliance charity status. I think some people complained to the NCVO board but I don't know whether they ever heard back.

LitCrit · 30/06/2021 10:13

@ScreamingMeMe sorry ignore me am twat - have seen it now.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 30/06/2021 10:21

Some of the archived material is a series of joined-up screenshots with the URL clearly visible at the top. I was trying to archive other parts of the conversations but the queue was taking hours at some points and by the time it had worked its way up, the account had been locked.
