An interesting article from a UK context.

Oh yes! I 'educated myself'. A very aggressive TRA ambushed me in a very benign thread over a benign post. I had the topic in my peripheral vision until then. At that point I knew I had to learn more because I couldn't stay out of the fray; it had dragged me in.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/08/2021 15:51

Thanks for this thread, it's fascinating/ horrifying to think the wheels have been in motion for so long.

This quote from the book you linked LangCleginSpace is infuriating:

Think how much more inspiring and beautiful the women's revolution will be when it joyously includes all women. Think of a Holloway demo with transvestite, transsexual and drag-queen women, gay women and heterosexual women, black, yellow, brown and white women, working women, housewives and career women. Certainly, whatever course we take as transvestites, transsexuals and drag queens, we must first destroy the trap wherein regular women set up standards by which they accept or reject us .

Such bullshit. Trying to frame us as the oppressors, then themselves as the poor little victims who are being denied their rights. Notice how when they list all the 'groups' of women they put themselves firmly first. That's how they see this, them bravely leading women, us following meekly behind.

Smells like male entitlement to me.

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 06/08/2021 15:55

@LangClegsInSpace

I still blame stonewall for the situation we have today where any male bodied person can id as female and demand access and validation.

Yes, I imagine you preferred it when only a few male bodied people could ID as female and demand access and validation and you were one of the lucky few.

But it's not in women's interests to allow any male bodied people to ID as female and demand access and validation. We were never asked, it makes many of us feel very uncomfortable and it makes us all less safe.

I really believe that has damaged the Trans cause to the point that there is no way back.

Yes, I understand that stonewall doing the umbrella thing in plain sight is bad for the 'trans cause'. That's not my cause though. This is a feminist forum, most of us are here to talk about women's rights.

Thank you for this! You can articulate so much better what many of other women feel.

We should not have to accept any males in our spaces, regardless of how they feel.
I hate this idea that there is 'acceptable' TW who are the real deal. Eh, no, you're still a man and I do not want to share my space with you.

Why is a TW not expanding what it is to be male, instead of encroaching on being female? We were never consulted on this, we do not accept this. It is not our job to validate you.

Thanks for this, managed to miss it before. Bloody hell!!!!! I cannot believe how long this has been going on and what a concerted effort was made to hide it.

WhereYouLeftIt · 04/01/2022 23:51

Thanks Nonny, I missed this (god only knows how).

RoaringtoLangClegintheDark · 05/01/2022 01:21

Worth bumping for the resources and an overview of history in some areas.

NoToLandfill · 25/07/2022 15:29

Wow. Interesting. Depressing.
And we do NOT agree to validate any male.

PearlClutch · 25/07/2022 15:55

Thanks, Nonny et al for this informative thread.

ScrollingLeaves · 25/07/2022 19:39

This thread is extremely informative, thank you all for your contributions to it.

FemaleAndLearning · 25/07/2022 23:45

Just bookmarking so I can come back and read the articles.

TheCurrywurstPrion · 26/07/2022 16:28

Thank you. What a fascinating article. I love how it gives so much space to the words of C. Burns, who is being given plenty of rope, as it were. I find it very interesting that, having carefully kept so much secret in the past, all this is now admitted openly as being the plan all along.

If the thought is that the public consciousness has now moved on far enough that this can be revealed because the new order is now so well accepted/embedded that revealing the past should be safe, I think it’s a profound misjudgment.

LangClegsInSpace · 29/07/2022 20:09

Yes, it's easy to think you've got away with something simply because no-one has noticed ... yet.

I have never come across anyone so obliviously proud of the damage they've done as CB.

Pressing Matters is worth buying because CB is so proud of what P4C did that there are links in the book where you can download all their old mailing list discussions 👀 I haven't found the time or energy to go through them all but there's lots of stuff in there about early appropriation of 'intersex' and how they pissed off all the DSD/VSD support groups.

Also the book contains a charming vignette of CB sharing a sex pond under the stars with Martine Rothblatt.

@Sophoclesthefox

Thanks for the bump, I managed to miss this before.

Reading with my eyebrows in my hairline.

My eyebrows haven't come down since about 2015.

'Educate yourself' they said ...

Yes my eyebrows have blended into my head hair.

Odd that this thread doesn't turn up when I use the Search function, even when I give it the full title.

Anyhoo, the deliberate conflation and obscuring of transsexual and transvestite is not the only piece of gender activism that has been worked on for a long time.
The objective of removing sex from all documentation, especially birth certificates, has also been a long-term goal.

Good Twitter thread on the usual suspects.

Odd that this thread doesn't turn up when I use the Search function, even when I give it the full title.

I can only find it if I put this into a search engine (that's true for a fair amount on MN tho', given the state of the search function).

Having watched What Is A Woman Wrong Answers Only this morning, and now reading Dr Em's work linked on this thread I am feeling quite sick. I'm so tired of all this (insert own expletive here). When will it end?

This thread definitely needs to stay active.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link the WISAW video - it's explicit and I do feel the 'horror film' ending is designed to give a visceral response, I don't think it was necessary though as the film was disturbing anyway. I'll link below so if it's not ok just the thread with the link can go.
