The IWF sent her an invitation so she can come compete.
I feel this is them admitting that their rules are unfair to women.
And it does mean another athlete missed out on her discretionary invitation but we don't know who she is so can't make a big hoohah about it.

OP - can you link to the confirmation of this?

I would like to post it on FB and shout to the world that Nini is officially an Olympian.

I have looked at the site for the international weightlifting and the Olympics site and also googled and can't find anything.

Yes need something solid.

I can't see IOC doing this personally.

That's awesome. I wish we knew who was behind her.

This is fantastic news.

I love that ‘inclusion’ means white male-bodied people having priority over women of colour.

Plus ça change… 🙄

MarianneUnfaithful · 26/06/2021 05:50

Good.

But they all still have to compete with someone who went through male puberty?

A golden ticket to a skewed playing field? Thank

sashh · 26/06/2021 07:33

But they all still have to compete with someone who went through male puberty?

I'd love to be there with a big bell and shout, "shame, shame"

Just saw a post about Sha'Carri Richardson being the fastest woman in America.

Black, queer, woman the fastest in America

So was she born a man

WomaninBoots · 26/06/2021 08:38

Richardson isn't trans. L or Q rather than T. So her rainbow status not really relevant to sport, despite a fuss being made about it.

She's 5ft1 so firmly in female phenotype territory!

WomaninBoots · 26/06/2021 08:40

It's going to be very annoying for well-muscled women athletes having to assert their female status now we're all confused and suspicious isn't it?

Outbutnotoutout · 26/06/2021 09:35

Thank you

It was the queer bit that threw me. Like she can't be the fastest black women in America, without tagging some kind of LGBT on?

WomaninBoots · 26/06/2021 09:48

Yes I understood the confusion Outbutnotoutout. I hate having to second guess.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 26/06/2021 09:50

So happy about this congratulations to Nini!

Maybe they could now give Hubbard a wildcard into the male competition...

highame · 26/06/2021 09:59

This is one of the consequences of stepping on women's rights. We're all so bloody twitchy now that everyone's going to stuffer. What SW et al have done will end up setting LGB rights back too, though I sincerely hope not. That would be a travesty.

I just want fairness for women in sport and that means biological women competing against biological women. We have not gained these rights for them to be trampled on because someone's inclusion is thought more important than the host of women who suffer discrimination every day. No thanks
