I don't know how someone can sit a keyboard and write this stuff and not realise how flippin awful it sounds

twitter.com/STILLTish/status/1408444255769595907

The school is Colston School - he whose statue ended up in the river at Bristol. @colstonsschool Maybe the wokeness is over compensation for name embarrassment. I don't agree with knee jerk name changes but I can see if the management are under the spotlight for Colston it might be a factor in the over-reach here. A reason not an excuse mind you.

Lol @ "bisexual" - "attracted to more than one gender but not all genders" Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2021 11:22

This is where their bullshit "logic" ends up - they can't say "attracted to both sexes" because they don't recognise sex in any meaningful way.

ChristinaXYZ · 26/06/2021 11:24

@DolphinFC

Not saying you're wrong but could post a link to where the school is saying that.

The post the school put up defines lesbians as:

Women loving women.

The caption to the lesbian flag on the fourth (bottom right) pic has the wording. they are even handed: they describe being gay as non-women loving non-women.

So I guess if you are a woman exclusively attracted to FTM trans people, non binary females and women you are bisexual. When in fact you are same sex attracted.

ChristinaXYZ · 26/06/2021 11:27

@DolphinFC

Just spotted it.

It's after the definition I gave and follows the same pattern as all the others so there is no issue.

Err, yes there is. It is mangling language and from a school too. It is confusing for kids and for those with special needs or whose first language is not English. And it makes no proper sense - a raspberry is a non-man, a chair is a non-woman....

Why did they need any explanation? 'Women loving women' and 'men loving men' is enough, surely?

Bornafreak · 26/06/2021 11:42

The intersex description is very insulting and inaccurate. I was born with what is known as ambiguous genitalia and I don’t have a mix of male or female genitalia or chromosomes.
I’m a adult human female with xx chromosomes.
Stonewall et al should never have co-opted those with DSDs to try and make a legitimate argument.

Imasoulman · 26/06/2021 11:52

But it clearly says "women loving women" first, I guess they are including transmen by using the "non men" as well.
It's diversity week, they are being diverse !

@viques

And another thing, I am pretty sure that hanging flags, however woke and worthy, over a bannister rail is a fire hazard. Hope their local fire station spots them.
The flags have recently self-identified out of 'flammable' into 'inflammable', so everything should be OK?
Souther · 26/06/2021 12:09

So woman = non-man
But man = (non-woman)

So a woman is
Non-(non-woman)

But woman =( non-man)
So-
Woman = non-non-(non-man)
Man = non-woman

So woman = = non-non-non-non-woman

And so on ad infinitum-

Eventually you're just left non-non-non...
Repeating forever.

We can discuss the rights and wrongs of a school promoting ideas like non men etc. However, what I find really appalling is that this school is deliberating demeaning in front of the whole school and its community all of the students who have DSD. How dare they!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 26/06/2021 12:18

NON-MAN???? Why not just call us Offred and be done with it.

viques · 26/06/2021 12:54

@Defaultname.

That is a huge relief. Thank you.

Why use non men and non women? Can only assume It’s a wishy washy attempt to ‘widen the concept of being gay’ to include heterosexual people, while maintaining sexist Pink brain/blue brain stereotypes.
merrymouse · 26/06/2021 13:15

The intersex flag is just plain wrong. People pay for an education from this school? The flags may have been produced by pupils, but presumably an adult has control of the Twitter account?

quiteathome · 26/06/2021 13:19

It is all nonsense.

We have satisfactory words. WOMEN and MEN.

Minezatea · 26/06/2021 13:38

As a woman I feel very 'non' lots of things. Why are they focusing on non-men? I am also non-chicken, non-robin, non-deer, non-giraffe etc. I think perhaps it's much easier to say what something IS rather than what is ISN'T.

PurpleHoodie · 26/06/2021 14:17

Yes.

NeonDreams · 27/06/2021 03:24

They are so, so, so, so, SO desperate not to use the w.o.m.e.n word, aren't they?

I'd bet my house they wouldn't describe gays as 'non-women'.

Btw, at Father's Day just past, were there any Prostate Havers' Day cards?

NeonDreams · 27/06/2021 03:28

I just questioned my cat Annabelle. Annabelle doesn't recognise dogs as 'animals', she says they're pests like insects, so she considers being called a non-dog offensive. She said she is a CAT. End of story.

LadyFuHao · 27/06/2021 05:38

It does refer to gay as meaning non-women attracted to non-women, NeonDreams.

It's still word salad though!

Did you actually look at the link ?

They use the word " women"

Also they do say " non women" with reference to gay men !

Can I pop round and measure for curtains?

Clymene · 27/06/2021 09:35

But why do they say either of them at all?

If non man means transwoman, I don't think that's a thing. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a transwoman in a relationship with another transwoman. It's either a woman or a transman.

And transwoman loving women aren't lesbians, however much they'd like to think they are.

This is an ugly, badly written, ill informed piece of junk and it doesn't belong in a school.

It is ridiculous, this kind of thing just fuels controversy and doesn't do anyone any favours
