Girls school raising money for Stonewall *title edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

They are charging the girls for a mufti day which will be added to the bill, then donating half of the funds raised to Stonewall, and the other half to Micro Rainbows.

I genuinely don’t understand whether the school are naively virtue signalling or if they are sanctioning the misogyny and dishonesty of Stonewall’s position. I think it’s a PTA thing, but even so, they should have done some research. The timing is particularly egregious on the basis that government departments and other organisations have been dropping Stonewall like a brick in the last few weeks.

Further more, stonewall are massively overfunded! The whole thing beggars belief.

I declined to pay and sent a donation elsewhere. The chosen charity was connected to gender ideology indirectly and I don't support that my time or money.

Maybe this is an opportunity to ask what the school think of the erasure of lesbians by the largest lBGT charity in the U.K.?

Yes, quite.

Stonewall is actively lobbying for a reduction in the rights of women and girls. Goodness only knows why they couldn’t have donated to a or a foodbank. 🤷‍♀️

Always worth asking why they've chosen this - is there a problem with homophobic bullying in the school? Also asking what other causes they've supported this year - especially those devoted to discrimination their pupils might regularly encounter - disability, SEN, racism, sexual harassment and bullying?

Perhaps they don't know the truth?

I didn't when I first heard about Stonewall a few years ago and thought they were seeking to help disadvantaged people, rather than trample over women's rights.

My DC's school too. But I was very, very heartened to hear from the DC (who will not be participating) that there had been protests from some of the sixth form because "they don't agree with Stonewall's ideology". They wanted the money to go to refugee children instead.

Good to hear CatChant that students are starting to push back.

I'm glad to hear there's been pushback.

Stonewall have the benefit of decades of built up good will, so criticising them can be an uphill struggle.

Apart from anything else it shows a depressing lack of curiosity and imagination in choosing which charity to support.

Are there any good local charities where they can actually see what is being achieved with a tiny budget?
