Listening to the Today programme this morning I heard:

A wonderful interview with Jess de Wahls = sunlight

A mention on the news (albeit short) on Laurel Hubbard at the Olympics = sunlight

A pretty poor response piece by a transperson to the JdW Royal Academy debacle = sunlight

A woman doctor talking about a heart condition that particularly affects women, and particularly post-menopausal women = women's health matters

What is going on?
Thank you Maya for opening the way for these discussions

Good to hear OP. That phrase "educate yourself" is finally happening as the BBC are now forced to openly report on what has been happening "under the radar" for so many years. And guess what - people aren't impressed

Yes OP! I heard all that too, I was very pleasantly surprised.

I thought Jess was great, she came across very well she said something like I have compassion for the journey of trans people but I cannot pretend to believe something I don’t, I don’t think it possible to change sex and I don’t believe I have to validate others in their beliefs about themselves. Something along those lines anyway it will be on listen again a bit later, it was between 07:30 and 08:00 I think.

The broken heart syndrome was fascinating and brilliant that they have found out more about this condition, it began at around 08:53, the clock in my car may be out a minute or so in either direction.

I thought it interesting that the trans person was calling for open public debate. It was an individual artist though rather than a representative of an organisation like Stonewall or Mermaids and individuals of course don’t all believe in #nodebate. Interesting that Picasso was used as an artist with misogynistic tendencies still having books about his work sold at the Royal Academy, ok but Eric Gill’s work is apparently continuing to be available too…

I caught the end of Jess De Wahl's interview. I thought she came across well and the interviewer wasn't hostile (grateful for these things these days!)
