Well that was a bit of a mess. Simon Fanshawe was all over the place and it was very hard to follow what he was saying. Andrew Neil tried his best to get him to focus but failed miserably.

AMCoffeePMWine · 15/06/2021 20:39

From Andrew Neil on Twitter…

What’s gone wrong at Stonewall?

Just this sentence is encouraging, that Stonewall are being seen for what they are.

Thanks for the heads up @ChristinaXYZ

Just watching it now Simon Fanshaw has on.

Rhannion · 15/06/2021 20:44

I wanted to hear Simon talk more about women and girls rights, not about the fucking murdering taliban !!!

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 15/06/2021 21:03

Simon demonstrating that he doesn't understand the issue.

He seemed to be saying that if we ignore the extremists on each side, we can come up with a compromise. No mention of safeguarding, child protection or the fact that women are entitled to have space and language of our own without any mans approval or inclusion.

ChristinaXYZ · 15/06/2021 21:52

I got the feeling that that was not the interview that Andrew Neil was expecting. I hope he comes back to the safeguarding said on another occasion.

Missed it! Is it recorded anywhere?

TheFleegleHasLanded · 15/06/2021 22:10

What an utterly wasted opportunity. Simon was all over the place and if you were new to the issue you would not have had the first clue what he was on about.

2Rebecca · 15/06/2021 22:10

I watched it on the app. Andrew Doyle mentioned the NHS Scotland pledge but didnt mention the pledge to inform on your colleagues and got cut off mid sentence. The Andrew Neil programme was less glitchy on the app today but adverts still cut him off mid sentence

Some vids here, but I don't see the Simon Fanshawe interview, t least not yet.

Very poor - I mean at best pointless and at worst mystifying. AN just let SF speak on and on and on - he explained how rights can clash but without using an example ppl could relate to. To be fair, if AN was doing his job better he could have focussed SF more effectively. No one new to the issue would have had the faintest clue what it was about.

tiktok · 15/06/2021 22:16

Same issue with Andrew Doyle - all over the place, without focus.

I don't think that's his focus. His career (to the best of my knowledge) is as a facilitator/mediator in the private and public sector.

He has a book coming out in August called The Power of Difference: Where the Complexities of Diversity and Inclusion Meet Practical Solutions.

The Power of Difference explores the complexities and difficulties that people involved in diversity are dealing with every day, offering insight, analysis and practical solutions. Whether you are an HR professional, a manager, CEO or just engaged with social change and the crucial need to open up the greatest opportunities for all, this book is a must-read.

Weaving together his own experience in creating change with the latest research and examples from work with clients, the author brings clarity and wit to the task of combining difference to create real diversity and how to hear all voices in order to create true inclusion. The Power of Difference explores why diversity is about change not just good intentions; why inclusion is not just about being nice to people; why unconscious bias training isn't the fix we need; why we need to design out the bias; and what combination of difference is needed for a team to achieve its goals. It shows how for innovation and diversity to flourish, we have to create spaces that are safe for disagreement, not from disagreement. Written in an engaging yet practical style, this book courageously tackles some of the most significant issues at work today.

I suspect Simon's idea of workable solutions would not be the same as ours.
