Lots of focus on the diversity champions scheme - any work being done on the schools champion awards?

DD's high school proudly displays its silver schools champion award in its entrance. I would really like to discuss this with them, especially in the context of the significant increase in females announcing their trans status (breast binders are very de rigueur) but am going around in circles a bit as a lot of the guidance out there focuses on the diversity champions scheme (i.e. employer focused). Is anyone aware of any text/templates or guidance available which is more school-focused?

I think that's a very good question. I wonder it's worth asking over on the secondary education board?

I meant, if you don't get the answer here. Not, oh bugger off Grin

I'll have a google look-see too.

The wonderful Transgender Trend also has advice:

Fantastic - how did I miss those?! In my defence I've got massive brain fog due to an iron deficiency at the moment (awaiting an infusion). I'll spend some time this week on it, am probably going to do it anonymously, as, although I don't really mind my name potentially being mud, I don't want DD to suffer from any fall out.

It's a really important question inigomontoyahwillcox

Stonewall and all the other lobby groups have made a massive effort to get into schools. I still can't imagine how this has been allowed - schools are meant to be politically neutral. These groups are open campaigning / lobbying groups demanding the removal of women's rights and campaigning for surgery and off label drugs for children. Therefore they should only be given access to children as part of a balanced curriculum - not uncritical access. Sigh...

As an aside, I'm hoping with OFSTED breaking ranks, that the breast binding issue might be addressed.

In terms of health and safety, schools should be discouraging them, if not outright banning them.

Well, precisely - just as any other public sector organisation should not be modelling their policies on a lobbying group (which is essentially what the diversity champions scheme insists they do), but creating them based on balanced observation of all the resources available regarding the topic/issue - nor should schools when it comes to their curriculum/policies.

There's a mass of FOIAs to schools on What Do They Know?

There's food for thought on another thread here too. Including the potential of binders being illegal.

Schools should be politically neutral. Allowing a lobby group to teach false law should never have happened.

The schools then, to get their rainbow points, actively encourage children to pick gender identities etc.

There would be nothing wrong with teaching that a tiny minority of people have dysphoria and wish to present as the opposite sex or change their name and they should be respected and accommodated in relation to their sex.

This bullshit that EVERYONE has a gender identity and it is the most important part of your being and that single sex anything is wrong or irrelevant should've rung massive alarm bells.

Allowing them to tell confused young teens, just realising their same sex attraction, that they should be attracted to males who perform femininity because that's what a 'lesbian' is is shockingly homophobic and sexist. Completely ignoring 2 protected characteristics.
