As per the title. Their name is crossed out on the SexMatters list.

Apparently they had already left. They used to be members up until and including 2019 but in 2020 they didn't renew their membership.

Alice Sullivan has a link to the FOI in this tweet.

I don’t know of anyone else has noticed - I’m not seeing as many rainbows all over shops, businesses and streets this year. I wonder if that’s a pandemic thing or people looking at what’s happening with stonewall and taking a step back.

They have helped to cause so much trouble.

PandorasMailbox · 07/06/2021 07:44

I've noticed the same @toffeebutterpopcorn.

I live in a very woke town which is awash with virtue-signaling libfems, and remember before the pandemic, that any businesses not festooned with rainbow flags during Pride, was vilified and boycotted. It was awful.

Lots of bullying and intimidation from the be kind crowd.

I used to walk to work along Oxford at and up Tottenham court Rd - there was just a constant rain is (flags, balloons, window displays - even my bank had a huge rainbow arch over the doorway). Maybe it’s all pandemic/lockdown, but I hope that they are seriously rethinking the whole package.

There are some terrific feminists at UCL. Well done, sisters. At UCL and everywhere else that is waking up at last.

Iamanaubergine · 07/06/2021 09:16

Mutterings I’ve heard from other universities suggest that some believe Stonewall need their support now more than ever. Not sure how prevalent this sentiment is though.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/06/2021 10:01

A lot of universities are facing a bit of a funding squeeze so I suspect budgets will get wheeled out as excuse.

I think it’s a more fundamental issue of academic freedom but I’ll live with any excuse.

I live in a relatively small village. Our local Sainsbury's has a sign outside it.

Sainsbury's is on board, I went in one the other day.

Stonewall don't own Pride, would love to see some events that did not have all this corporate paxkaging. I used to attend back in the day before big business took over.

poorbuthappy · 07/06/2021 10:31

I am job hunting on LinkedIn currently - the flag is still everywhere.

OvaHere · 07/06/2021 11:30

I went to my local Morrisons yesterday. There was nothing apart from a few printed rainbow flags the size of a 10 quid note stuck to the tobacco kiosk. Which is sort of worse optics than the carefully curated displays. Either bother or don't!

I have visions of Pride being brought up in the morning staff meeting and someone going "Shit, is it? Do we have any rainbows?" Then running some off on the printer and bunging them on the nearest available bit of perspex. Grin

For context this is a WC area with large pockets of deprivation and the main entrance display is all about the local foodbank rather than anything else so I'm not shocked if it wasn't on many people's radar.

Artichokeleaves · 07/06/2021 11:31

Stating here for the record, as the message needs to be more and more disseminated: the rainbow flag has sadly become a statement of political affiliation. It is one that many LGBT+ do not find inclusive or welcoming, and some like myself find it actively hostile. I'd be interested to know if Sainsburies support all LGBT+ people in the community regardless of their political choices.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 07/06/2021 11:43

I’m not sure how much we need Pride (in the LGB sense). We have laws, marriage is legal, sexual orientation is protected under the EA it’s more Pride+ these days.

And yes, Sainsbos and LikedIn are still going for it.
