Great interview with Raquel Rosario Sanchez. Stonewall cba to send someone so the presenter read out their statement - v encouraging to see the heckler's veto doesn't work any more!

FiLiA Spokeswoman Raquel Rosario Sánchez spoke about the importance of upholding the democratic process and invited Stonewall to debate their lobbying efforts which affect women's rights with feminist organisations such as FiLiA. While we are disappointed that Stonewall refused to appear on the programme with us (instead, sending a written statement), our Spokeswoman emphasised that throughout history, women have fought to be explicitly named and visible in public policies that affect their lives, including maternity policies.

Sounds brilliant Flowers thank you to all involved

She does! I could almost feel embarassed for British 'professional feminists' that she's doing their job for them, as a volunteer, in her second language and 10x better, but I'm too pissed off!

Stonewall has already successfully convinced some large organisations to abandon the word mother

And I'm endlessly impressed by how good a speaker Raquel Rosario Sánchez is, and the profound depths of her compassion for others.

You make a very good point, Raquel is impressive!

My Scandinavian friends are pissing themselves laughing as the word for maternal grandmother is literally “mum mum”.

From now on children must call out “parent-who-has-given-birth-parent-who-has-given-birth” when addressing their grandma.

And, the thing is, there is no damage limitation to be had on this one. They can't claim to only want that in certain situations, to be sensitive to certain people.

It's a blanket policy.

And now everyone sees how batshit it is.

Raquel is awesome - she was on Talk Radio last night too, and has spoken to the Daily Mail:

Hahahaha!

Then there are languages that have different words for maternal and paternal aunts and uncles, so I guess that takes us to 'possible-birthing-parent-sibling-of-birthing parent'.... can't be arsed to type out all the variations!
