I am cross that the slides produced to explain the decisions not to vaccinate under 30s, and then under 40s, with AZ do not show sex disaggregated data.
We know that COVID is more serious for men. We also know it is suspected that the AZ blood clot risk is higher for women.
'There is now some evidence that the reported incidence rate is higher in females compared to men although this is not seen across all age groups and the difference remains small.'
Source - latest adverse events report here:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting
Therefore the 'COVID risk' is lower for females of any given age, and the vaccine risk is (probably) higher.
So having a single age cut off disadvantages women.
Of course this was true the other way round with the vaccination by age group - men should have been prioritised.
I wish that sex differences were made more clear in medical data.
