Also complained.

JediGnot · 28/05/2021 17:28

The one thing that surprises me on this thread is that there is anyone GC left on twitter to post anything that suggests sex-based rights are a thing.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/05/2021 18:12

Rani strikes me as a pleasant woman but not an intellectual heavyweight, so her stance is hardly surprising. She should stick to the One Show and similar dross.

YY. They are making it like the One Show.

Feelinghothothottoday · 28/05/2021 18:13

Prior to working from home I had only listened to a few pod casts of women’s hour. At the start of wfh it was great listening to it live. However over a year later and a change in its stance I’m really finding it quite dull. And I fed up with the BBC force feeding me with trans issues. I all for equality but not at the expense of women.

RadicalFern · 28/05/2021 19:49

That WH could run this story two days before and fail to notice the cognitive dissonance...

I do wonder how long the name “Women's Hour” will last. I expect it will be renamed anytime soon.

GCmiddle · 28/05/2021 19:58

Why did Anita introduce today's episode by reading out silly tweets, mostly by men -who cares if Gary is planning a BBQ, what's that got to do with Woman's Hour?
Why did Anita tell us she has painted her toenails in preparation for expsoing them when the weather improves? Trite gender stereotypes much?!
Why did she introduce PL by saying she was beautiful? Does she make value judgments about the appearance of all her female guests? No, she doesn’t and would be slated if she did.
I actually thought PL’s book sounded good. My problem with it is that we are being told it is a book written a woman, supposedly about what it is like to be a girl. No, I don’t accept that and I think Woman’s Hour should not gaslight us.

Thecatonthemat · 28/05/2021 20:33

I regularly complain but never get anything more than an acknowledgement. I am astonished that they chose to put out
something so offensive to women . PL has never been a girl or a woman . I do not care that they are beautiful in Rani’s eyes. I do not care that Rani paints her toenails. I do care about boys who are abused as I am about girls but let’s get their story right. Perhaps the possibility that they became trans because of trauma could have been explored in more depth. I also was furious about women were spoken of as pregnant people Yes we are people but there is another more specific word...why weren’t they using it? I knew it would be bad but not that bad.

Pudmyboy · 28/05/2021 20:56

Though I am extremely nervous about Twitter, I did look at the replies: largely heartening and some unexpected laughter: the Family Guy clip: Bartender tells someone not to look at porn on their phone at a bar. “Oh, it’s OK, I’m transgender.” Bartender; “Oh, I had no idea. Do whatever you want all of the time.”

Feelinghothothottoday · 28/05/2021 23:48

It avoided the discussion as to whether Pl was gay (is gay) but PL father did not want a gay son. It’s so obvious really. I think it also avoids a discussion about rent boys. We just seem to accept this. Is there a charity/org set up to help young boys who are being abuse?

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 28/05/2021 23:54

The BBC have a trans agenda. They hate women. Everyone knows this. Bunch of misogynists.

WarriorN · 29/05/2021 06:08

I started listening to it.

Omg the fawning.

And keeping girls safe?

Jeeze.

Bloody brilliant

And so true

Changed to ' What is a Woman Hour'.
Mollyollydolly · 29/05/2021 12:10

I've complained about the tweet and pointed out it goes against what the EHRC said just last week. I didn't mince my words.

terfinginthevoid · 29/05/2021 13:50

I've complained, and pointed out that what she wrote went far further than anything Jenni Murray said. She not only expressed her views on a controversial issue, but accused those who disagree with her (members of the audience for her show) of 'transphobia' and 'hate'.

She should be sacked from Woman's Hour for this - she obviously has contempt for a significant proportion of her listeners.

ChristinaXYZ · 30/05/2021 15:21

I have started a separate thread on it but if you're complaining to the BBC this report contains some useful stuff campaigncommonsense.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/The-BBCs-Gender-Confusion.pdf

Panicmode1 · 02/06/2021 14:11

Has anyone else had a pitiful response from the BBC?

Mollyollydolly · 02/06/2021 17:44

Yes I did today. TBH I don't even care what the reply says. Reports are published of complaints on logs that BBC staff and management can read.
If management see there have been loads of complaints they will read why. Each complaint is a chip away and back to rationality. They wont criticise her publicly but I'm bet someone might have a word privately..

Thecatonthemat · 02/06/2021 18:02

Interesting programme yesterday. Sinead o Connor would not shut up when Emma tried. Also a lot about the grooming of girls with the ex prosecutor of the Rotherham cases who is now the regulator for the Catholic Church...a good appointment as he won’t be letting them off lightly.

daringdoris · 02/06/2021 18:17

Yep, got the pitiful response here too.

A bit of it:
Anita was responding to the tone of some of the replies on Twitter following Friday’s episode of Woman's Hour. Her tweet called for respect and empathy, rather than taking one viewpoint or another on the issues involved.

It did not take a position on any matters of public policy, for example – seeking instead to stress the value of listening to others. We believe that was in line with the values expected of Woman's Hour and the BBC as a whole.

WarriorN · 02/06/2021 19:44

Her tweet called for respect and empathy

Hmm, and yet this is not what women get.

The guest selling a book on the show that day is known for enjoying the sexist disrespect that women receive, when directed at them. (Being Cat called etc.)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/06/2021 20:31

Yep standard rubbish response. However, the main reason I complain is to take away the option for them to say “nobody raised any concerns”. They need to know that people will notice and will hold them to account.
