There is a very interesting letter in the Times today - the topic is Freedom of Speech, but what the author of this letter, says about Stonewall's involvement in the university sector is very interesting.
"Sir,
Daniel Finkelstein says that proposed laws to protect academic freedom perversely will harm free speech and that cancel culture in universities can be defeated only by argument. Yet the point is not to force certain speakers to be invited but to stop managers disinviting speakers who have already been invited, or otherwise censuring academics in the light of complaints.
For three years gender-critical academics have argued that Stonewall's involvement in the university sector has resulted in repression of academic freedom. Those arguments have been consistently ignored. Now Essex University has published an independent report into academic freedom infringements on its campus, which concluded that Stonewall had misrepresented the law and that the university should reconsider its relationship with Stonewall. In its response the university said it would review 'how we address the specific issues raised' and that Stonewall 'has been a valued university partner.
I am sceptical: argument is useless if nobody in power listens.

I think "Stonewall has misrepresented the law" is a very telling phrase, and I am glad this is getting aired in the national press.
