I engaged quite a lot with the recent tweet from Stonewall about their open letter to the EHRC. Yes, I was critical of them and their refusal to move forward and talk to LGB Alliance, amongst others.
I gained a few new followers, one of my tweets got about 50 likes - not exactly viral, but a record for me! I noticed that there was a lot of critism of them, their tactics, their ideology, but much of it intelligent and evidence based. Of course, there was a lot of name calling and accusations and lies, but definitely not from me and pretty much all from one 'side', as it were....
Surely a learning opportunity for them? A chance to look and see what people really think and why? But I was absolutely astonished to see that Stonewall have blocked me.
This has not hurt my feelings, but Stonewall are a publicly funded organisation, which is hoping to influence government policy, which comes into our schools to give training, and they are UNABLE to engage with the public? Or at the very keadt, read and absorb some robust criticism!?
The EHRC social media manager will have had a similar experience after their tweet about their new CEO, I would be similarly aghast if they had gone through twitter blocking all discenting voices - but I bet they haven't.
It has just confirmed my opinion of Stonewall, quite frankly....
