I am on the email list for thinx as I forgot to unsubscribe when I realised how they speak about the only sex that buy their products.
I have just had this in my inbox. An entire article on endometriosis, that fails to mention it is only women who get it. You could be forgiven for thinking that both sexes suffer, as even though they mention painful periods, they also say that not everyone has them.
“People with endometriosis “ but who are those people Thinx? Which people get their endometriosis symptoms ignored or dismissed ? Why might that be ?
They make money from women and yet ignore their entire customer base. www.shethinx.com/blogs/thinx-piece/know-your-endo-jessica-murnane

Anyone able to recommend an alternative to Awesome Merchandise who have cancelled PP's account?

I need branded goods and Awesome were actually pretty good to deal with. Won't do it now, though.

@MistressoftheDarkSide

Well I've learned something new today because I was also Confused about endometriosis in men but here you are:

endometriosisnews.com/endometriosis-in-men/

This bit stood out to me:

"The majority of male endometriosis cases are thought to be a consequence of prolonged hormone therapy. For example, two cases of endometriosis in men who had undergone prostate cancer treatment were published: one in 1979 and another in 2012. Prostate cancer treatments contain estrogen."

Shall we take a guess where my cynical little brain has started going and the possible implications?

We discussed the so-called endometriosis cases in men in a thread on here last year and I read up on all of the cases written up in the medical literature.

The gist of it is this: not a single case of so-called endometriosis in men has anything to do with endometriosis in women. The doctors just decided to call it that, instead of bothering to come up with a term for displaced tissue causing issues in a male body. Even though endometriosis (as you'll know obviously) got its name from the Latin word for the lining of the womb and not from a word simply meaning displaced tissue. In my view they did so for the attention this garnered in the medical community. "Male patient with obscure tissue problem" is far less attention-grabbing than "male patient with female gynaecological condition".

Hey, Modibodi (I buy them, I'd be so disappointed) have three sections, 'women', 'teen' and 'men'.

ArabellaScott · 16/05/2021 23:16

(I just checked).

Charlie thanks for the clarity, I have been mulling over how men could have “endometriosis “ without a uterus! I wondered if it was as you say, that they have hormonal responsive tissue, that is not endometrial. Eg tissue displaced from elsewhere ( the gut ? ) It is interesting.

Yes they have the three sections bit bizarrely when you click on women its the only section that doesn't have descriptions/about us blurb that uses the word women. Unlike the teen and men

Clue app talks about people who menstruate. I’m not sure if there are any tracking apps that haven’t bought into the ideology but if anyone knows of any, I’d be interested.

I've just been browsing the totm website, and initially thought they were avoiding mentioning women, but in the giving back section they do mention us.
TOTM make organic sanitary products which are great, as they don't use those horrible perfumes that make my nether regions itch

Really? That's a bit odd. Maybe it's like the invisible matriarchy [she says hopefully]
