Joe Duffy covering the utter shite care women receive when going through the menopause. Did anybody hear any of it? I think there'll be more tomorrow.

A couple of weeks ago Liveline covered the unisex secondary school toilets.

Not sure why I'm posting really. I just thought it was good it was being covered and wondered why and if these things are only ever on Liveline.

I do know that the unisex toilets debacle was covered by Newstalk as I was listening to it.

Menopause never really gets any media coverage so it's great to hear that it is being talked about on National Radio.

I don't know what's going on with the toilets now. I didn't hear it on NT but I only listen to the radio in the car so caught the end of Liveline on the school run. I flick over and back between Radio 1 and NT usually. Women get and have got such a crap deal in Ireland. It's good Liveline covers some of it.

Endometriosis and the appalling dearth of surgical care in Ireland was covered on Clare Byrne on R1 yesterday.

Endometriosis is a total joke. My friend has it and she's been through so much for 30 years, it's horrific.

I heard a little of it. It was great to hear women speak about their experiences, which can appear like a borderline taboo topic. I heard the woman who drives a bus talking about having to occasionally access the toilet urgently due to heavy bleeding. This has caused her to have to temporarily put the bus out of service, leading to complaints from the public. Her supervisors are all male and unsympathetic to her situation. But what other option is available to her in those circumstances?

I'm going to try and listen tomorrow, it's really awful what women go through. I only caught the end where they were talking about GPs not recognising the symptoms of menopause. Instead of help for menopause, being prescribed anti-depressants, xanax, diagnosis of fibromyalgia, sent to rheumatologists, cardiologists and God knows what else. One woman went armed with her NICE guidelines (wonder if she is on MN) and got what she needed but described the doctor's attitude as cynical basically.

I moved back to Ireland after many years in the UK in 2019 and I have to say I’ve had far better gynaecological care here than on the NHS for heavy menstrual bleeding.

It was great that this issue got aired
