Woman's hour is calling for suggestions.
Twitter is responding with quite a few.
Anyway, if you're not on twitter presumably emails are welcome.

Lots and lots of suggestions to interview Maya Forstater....

It’s a brilliant thread, so many tweeters saying interview Maya Forstater, Allison Bailey, Ann Sinnot, Keira Bailey, Dr Kathleen Stock, Raquel Rosario Sanchez, Sall Grover Grin

FannyCann · 29/04/2021 20:48

We can but wait and see how many of those suggestions are given serious consideration....

Or perhaps bring back and interview Jenni Murray and Jane Garvey, with questions geared toward specifically why both women believed they no longer had a place on that programme or a platform to speak freely on real issues affecting women. That, I would tune in to hear!

BlackeyedSusan · 29/04/2021 21:42

I don't listen anynore as it is a bit shit now.

Abitofalark · 30/04/2021 14:09

They seem to be putting in bits of this and that of no great interest as filler these days and anxious to get people tweeting or emailing in or even on the telephone while on air. It's almost as if they want to turn it into one of those 'talk' radio programmes which I hate.

Am not on twitter. Are they now asking for 'stories' rather than topics or matters of import for the programme to explore? (Rather as the World Service, which I sometimes listen to (or used to) late at night, now likes to serve up 'stories' which are personal rather than topics, interviews or features based on broader interest.

Last week I missed an item I'd have liked to hear about sex attacks on teachers because Anita Rani seemed to think her dog and other people having dogs during the pandemic was of greater interest than it was (to me) and I turned it off - already had my fill of people with their dogs during this past year. This displaced a topic of substance. Too late putting it on at the tail end of the programme if people are already bored and switched off because of filler. Who is the editor and what is her goal? Populist appeal? Bland bits and pieces mixed with presenter's chatter? Audience figures?

WarriorN · 30/04/2021 14:47

Awesome, thank you 😎

Babdoc · 30/04/2021 15:05

What a heartening pile on of responses! Surely even Woke Central (aka the BBC) can’t ignore all that?

Cwenthryth · 01/05/2021 09:36

Well it seems Women’s Hour have truly messed Maya around and ruined their shot at interviewing her now anyway. They really seem to think they are somehow doing her a favour by inviting her on?? How arrogant. Unaware of their increasing irrelevance to women - due to their own refusal to acknowledge what has been happening in grass roots feminism for years now.

That’s a brilliant response from Maya!

Courage calls, women’s hour gets screened and sent to voicemail 🤣

Camdenish · 01/05/2021 10:24

Go Maya Star.

You couldn’t agree to be interviewed by someone who used the phrase “going forward” could you?

Cwenthryth · 01/05/2021 10:28

Heheheheh. Just spilled my drink down my top laughing at that.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 01/05/2021 11:56

The racist misogyny among many trans activists & why organisations such as BLM / any mainstream political parties are not speaking out against it?

WarriorN · 02/05/2021 15:05

Are they trolling now?

Have you always wanted to get on a bike, but something is holding you back? Monday’s programme is for you. Melmbr will be taking on the common barriers to cycling for women, and suggesting ways to overcome them bbc.in/3eIP1Y9

Babdoc · 02/05/2021 16:11

I can already guess which special “woman cyclist” they will invite as guest speaker, WarriorN, can’t you?! Grin

FannyCann · 09/05/2021 10:36

Great article by Camilla Long. I totally agree with her about all the privileged people (not just women although she doesn't say this) claiming victim status. But scroll on to the end. Apparently they had a shagologist (Grin) on Woman's Hour on Friday and guess what? Lots of men tuned in! Hmm

What a wonderful contribution to the debate, disgusted.

Well done you.

viques · 10/05/2021 14:38

Since we have the Olympics on the horizon I would like a discussion about women in sport, and I would like women who have expressed their concern about what is happening to women’s sport, like Sharon Davies, Sally Gunnell and Lynsey Sharp to talk about how we need to ensure right now that women’s sport is protected as women’s sport and not as a quick fix for medals by second rate athletes who can’t hack the competition as men.

I don’t want a mealy mouthed discussion about being kind, I want a no holds barred discussion about the real situation, about unfairness, back door cheating by national teams, about how loss of funding, earnings and sponsorship affects women’s participation, about how the setting of unattainable records will discredit and devalue women’s future achievements.

AnExcellentWalker · 10/05/2021 15:43

I used to listen Women's Hour when I was younger (in my 20s actually!)
I don't any more, despite no longer working due to ill health, ironically due to something that disproportionately affects women. I don't feel WH has any relevance to my life. There's too much fluff & time fillers. Frankly I find it infuriating.
I wish it mentioned real issues affecting real Women please. With all that entails, having to just get over regular sexual harassment, miscarriage, difficulties getting pregnant, the overwhelming burden of contraception on women, (no hormonal options for men!) bias in accessing healthcare & pain relief - both regular and emergency, not being believed about loads of things because female (not just those who are very feminine in appearance), the problems of living in a society where chairs, cars, backpacks, gardening tools, so many things are made to a default male size, & getting your husband to (for example) push the pram any great distance is virtually impossible because it's one of the few things that isn't & it'll bugger his back up.

And yes, can they really call it Woman's Hour if they aren't able to definitively state what a woman is?

happydappy2 · 10/05/2021 16:19

As well as womens sports-can they please talk about why we have men in womens prisons? I don't think most people have any idea that males are currently housed within the female estate....they don't even need a GRC.
