Has anyone read this? (Sorry for the Mail link can't find a better one)

She is the best in the world and still he pulls stunts like this and the beeb pander to him.

I believe she did make him uncomfortable, it's called guilt and shame and he should.

P.p.s. Don't read the comments.

The comments are priceless though - misogyny at its finest.

TheQueef · 28/04/2021 09:22

The comments are scarey!

Imagine if the roles were reversed here and Reanne asked for Allen to be removed?
I guarantee she would be a feeble hysterical woman.

Absolutely, she’d be described as “not up to the job if she can’t focus”.

risefromyourgrave · 28/04/2021 09:27

Jesus those comments are just awful! Have we gone back in time to the 1950’s?!

ArabellaScott · 28/04/2021 09:43

Phhh, 'She could distract me all day.' actually makes me laugh. Old fashioned sexism, so straightforwardly daft.

TheQueef · 28/04/2021 11:46

*scary

I wonder how the BBC justified this and if Reanne got her fee for commentary?

www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/reanne-evans-kicked-out-of-studio-after-ex-said-she-was-distracting/ar-BB1g7myb

It says here that her broadcasting commitments had not been affected by the incident, so hopefully that means she was paid and could carry out her work without otherwise being affected.

I would imagine that the "other people" that have been asked to leave in the past were actually being distracting and therefore there was a genuine reason to remove them. Simply existing and doing her job is not being a distraction.

Livpool · 28/04/2021 11:57

Appalling and what an arse he is.

DH loves snooker but can't stand that player. Another reason to add to!

JediGnot · 28/04/2021 12:01

To be fair to the BBC and Allen they are there to cover and participate in elite sport, an elite sport that relies on concentration. I can imagine circumstances where women would find the presence of an ex-partner distracting (or grossly offensive and utterly unacceptable) whilst they are trying to participate in elite sport. Completely dismissing Allen's experience is not a good look.

HOWEVER it does look pretty damn sexist as well. If there was the slightest hint that it could apply to any other snooker player or any other woman pundit then it would look absolutely horrifically sexist.

If she got paid and her prospects are unharmed then I regard it as a relatively trivial thing, though I am open to being convinced that Allen was deliberately bullying and demeaning his ex. It is obviously completely right that feminists are concerned and examining what went on.

I’m with JediGnot to an extent; particularly if they split up under awkward or divisive circumstances.

Not suggesting, for a second, that it’s the case with Evans, but one of my exes assaulted me several times and was arrested on one occasion. I don’t think I would be able to concentrate on much if she was around.

As long as Evans hasn’t suffered financially then I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Allen to have asked that she be reassigned. I also think the BBC would have taken the same action if it had been reversed.
