Hibo Wardere is an FGM survivor who campaigns against the practice. She is an author, and international speaker, and conducts safeguarding training for professionals on how to identify girls at risk of being subjected to FGM
She has been repeatedly hassled by transactivists for using woman-centred language, and you can read about that here.
In response to one spate of attacks, she told the transactivists, "I am a woman. Get over it". This went viral, and supporters of Hibo's work against FGM asked her to put this new slogan on a t-shirt. The t-shirts were available for two weeks only.
In response to popular demand, you now have a new chance to buy a t-shirt or a even a hoodie! The campaign deadline is in two days' time. Get the credit card out!

Around the world today, it is estimated that 200 million women and girls alive today have already been subjected to FGM, and another 3 million girls are at risk of being subjected to it each year.
It involves the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. The practice has no health benefits for girls and women. FGM can cause severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths.
It is a violation of the human rights of girls and women and treatment of health complications of FGM in 27 high prevalence countries costs 1.4 billion USD per year.
Buying a t-shirt from Hibo will fund her work of raising awareness, and every penny counts when approximately 800 girls a day are subjected to this.
