I think Jane Gordon probably would have more in common with Maya than Bryony (Gordon, her daughter) - BG strikes me as being quite woke.

Maya comes across very well in this article. When the verdict in her case was issued in the week before Christmas 2019, I was absolutely gutted and could only imagine how difficult it was for her. JKR's support the following day seemed like such a boost. Hopefully, this Telegraph piece will result in many more people understanding the issues and even lead them to the Sex Matters website.

No, that's what I meant, Medusa. I'm surprised to see a journalist using that term in this context.

If Maya used that term she'd be vilified. I've never heard her say anything disrespectful about trans people. Unless disagreement is disrespectful nowadays, of course.

Oh, I see, sorry!

I wrote it very clumsily, Medusa!

Perhaps I could be a journalist.

Wandawomble · 25/04/2021 09:28

The writer is desperately trying to avoid getting targeted herself for writing the piece so her using the word Terf is the journalism equivalent of “Do it to Julia!”

The thing is that journalists (at traditional/ reputable outlets) have a sub-editor going over their work, so you don't know what that piece looked like before it hit the public page (nor what your reply would have looked like after a sub's ministrations! 🙂). However what we've got here is the process made public: someone writes something and it's questioned.

(As an aside, I think the AIBU and Relationships boards have many excellent examples of getting to the bottom of a story, and don't think it's much of a stretch to think the quality of MNers' OPs and reading conprehension reflect this. Unfortunately, that's not to say there are no wild overreactions, bad-faith misunderstandings, etc.... but perhaps that's just the "training" turned to the bad side! Wink)

Pips Bunce is one of the individuals that provided me with Sherpa services.

Funny how his wife never gets to put on a glam frock and attend an award ceremony with him. I suspect she is at home tidying the nail varnish drawer in the bathroom cabinet.
